Thanks Acura!! Tranny Died!!Remove V-AFC?
Driving from my house over to my cousins..my tranny started slipping. I can smell something burning...next thing you know bam! check engine, and vsa light went on. Say goodbye to my first tranny. 41k miles. I have the V-AFC installed on my car. Should I remove it before I take it to the dealership?

Spiro,
With all the problems Acura is having with trannys, you shouldn't have to, BUT the real question is..."How cool is you service department?" If it was Park Ave Acura I'd say not worries, but I'm not sure what other dealers would say.
You might want to remove it anyway considering they replace the ECU and will have to remove it when they add the new one.

Thanks for the support guys. Even if I remove the V-AFC, I'm sure they can see that I spliced the wires. I'll def remove it if that is the best option. I just cant believe this happened. I'm just glad I caught only going 30mph instead of 80. I'l let you guys know if they give me any shit about the mods.

Did you go to Mc Grath Acura at Wesmont for tranny replacement? I took my car there like 2 days ago for my first tranny replacement. She only had 26K miles and the tranny gave up on me.

OK, got my car back. I notice the tranny shifts faster then the old one when i hit the gas. It def feels slower then before. Ive decided this car isnt meant for shit, but just from point a to b. Oh well.. maybe in a year ill have something new.

You might want to wait a few days before deciding that you know have a "too slow" car.
No documented changed where made to any parts that would weigh more or cause more "drag." OTOH, the tranny might be tight and despite comments that the tranny doesn't need a break-in, there are parts that are going to loosen up a bit with some time.
The other issue is the documentation that indicated they retarded the timing, but increased the G-force during transitions.
Can you report back in a week or two and see if the car is still "slow?"
Did you ever take the car to the track, etc?
Finally, the ECU is completely "clean" and has no clue about your driving. You might want to consider that the tables will adapt given a week or two (or sooner). All your old driving info in the previous ECU is gone...

This is manitou, I replaced my trans on the CL-s @ 45,000 miles. I later met a guy who has already replaced his twiice and he has over 100,000 miles on an 02. I hope this doesn't occur again for me. I'm thinking on purchasing a G-35 Coupe. Comptech tells me to by their cooler and use redline ATF, instesd of the honda product.
