Has there been any concerted effort by our membership, in association with TL owners, to start a letter/fax/email campaign against the Honda/Acura corporate structure - on the issue of the safety and reliability of the 5 speed automatic transmission's fragility and history of sudden downshift at speed.....?
As individuals we're like mosquitos, annoying but bearable, but if there is a concentrated effort to inform the Public At Large that Honda is not honoring their admitted mistake.....perhaps there will be another kind of "offer" to compensate us for our burden.
Honda's ad campaigns recently have emphasized their commitment to "safety".
Perhaps it would be in order to remind them how easily they are capable of keeping us "at risk" by not fixing this transmission once and for all.
Perhaps we could create a "form letter" which can be copied and sent out to local and national papers and automobile magazines - Consumer Reports could also raise a banner if we joined, and as members combined our experiences to raise their awareness of this issue...... their work on SUV rollovers made the industry change the construction of these vehicles.
Our local Acura Dealers could also be made aware of our effort....which would directly impact their business, and their pockets.... see what they say to Honda/Acura.
Word of Mouth works.... impressions of quality last... until they are negatively impacted.

That is an entirely different form of approach, should be noted in our letters...
but this is a "grass-roots" effort to impact the potential buyer of Honda/Acura products......
