hondatransmissionsettlement.com is gone. Need Documentation on Class Action

http://www.hondatransmissionsettlement.com/ is down and I am looking for documentation on the class action suit that extends the warranty on the transmission for a second gen CL. Any help is appreciated.

I did. It does not seem to be available. I am looking for something official, not second hand info.

I'd still talk with them...the dealer i went to was willing to go halves on the cost due to mileage...not sure how far you are away from each, but i was over the time limit but under mileage by about 1000 miles.

Glide...It is time to find the next "Chris Collins"!!!

I was so delighted to find your blog that I joined acurazine today so I could communicate with you. I am in the midst of my hassle with Acura right now. My local dealer has had our '00TL (122,000 mi) for a week and offered a 25% discount off an inflated $4600 rebuilt trans. I told Leon Jones, their case mgr. that a most reliable indep. trans shop had quoted me $3000. and I had more trust in their work than his dealer. This original trans has a known design flaw which is why the first Class Action case (Chris Collins vs. American Honda Motor Co.) was successful. Because we took good care of our vehicle and changed the trans fluid several times, we are to be penalized because the failure didn't happen sooner than 109,000,miles. I don't think so! Their "band-aid" cooling tube remedy fixed nothing & only bought them time!

sorry to say bud, but you are LUCKY that they are even willing to cover 25% of the cost. your vehicle is 10 years old.. do you expect your transmission to last forever? 122,000 miles sounds like awhile to me, considering the inherit issues these cars have.

if you dont want acura to do it, take it somewhere else. But dont expect them to cover the cost on a car that is past its warranty in both time and mileage.

just my

actually up until my 98 accord and 02 CLS my transmissions did last for the life of the car with one exception

1. 1982 Chrysler 5th avenue 380K out of the transmission from 1981 to 1990
2. Olds 98 regency was the only car that ate 2 trannies due to bad design by GM
3. 1986 sable GS 100K+ out of the trans
4. 1989 sable LS 3.8L 196K before the engine blew still original trans from 1988 to 2000
5. 1992 sable LS 3.8L 143K on trans when car was totaled from 1992 to 2001
6. 1994 accord LX 2.2L rebuilt salvage (60K) original trans and it is rocking 200K plus 1993-present

now to the crappy cars

1998 Accord LX Kennedy Transmission rebuilt that thing 4 times within 11K miles. After the 4th rebuild (car had 101K on it) 1997 to 2005 when I sold it

I traded it in for problem child #2 a 2002 CL-S that ate the first trans at 71K and the second one is done at 95K. I honestly thought that the rebuild would have lasted because it is the newer design lol but I was wrong. 2002-present

Does anyone know if there is a JDM version of the 03 TL tranny? If so, does it actually work better? I'm selling/trading my 94 legend for an 03 TL. Does anybody think I'm crazy?
