when i was 8 years old my older brother bought a brand new black cl type S (auto) and let me drive it, im now 19 and could buy it for $1000... And ive always looked up to this car and dreamed about it.... And i really want to keep it in the family... he is on his 4th tranny, Fast and the furious movies keep coming out...

a shop qouted him (San Francisco) $2600 to rebuild it, i know i could get a used one installed for 1500$ but i dont know how long it will last...the car is only worth 3600 if the tranny was good due to the damage to the door...

Im pretty good with mechanics Ive built dirtbikes and a truck but I hate trannys...

BASICALLY what is the cheapest way to replace or repair the tranny???

any other hondas/acuras etc that will fit? Last longer then 10k miles?

Link to 6 speed swap? (i preffer driving stick but if its that big of a itch to swap...)

It's under problems/fixes. Basically, putting in a compatible updated transmission from a later model vehicle. This is what I plan to do with the '01 CL Type-S I just bought with a bad trans.

My name"s Paul, and I been asking same questions. Got called on redundancy too! Anyway, I HOPE I've gotten it right. '06-'07 Honda EX coupe 5 spd auto from a 3.0 engine. Just shop for the lowest miles. I want to know what the fargin' underlying problem is, and although it's > 10 yrs, no-one seems to KNOW!! Best of luck. Paul/Hamblaster
