Question Hard Shifting on New Transmission

I have had a new transmission for about a month now and I notice it shifting much harder than it did before. I am hoping that htis is good and that the previous smoooth shifts were because of slippage in the clutches.

hab anyone else noticed a difference in shifting quality and speed in the replacement trans? It also seems to shift a little quicker.

no it should be smooth no "kicks" durring shifs . make sure your fluid level is not low (car on in drive/N) sometimes techs only check fluid once tranny is put in /filled up but afer a good test drive it may circulate and go down a lil

Thanks for your reply... I was a bit suspicious and took it down to Acura... who of course tell me that it is normal.

What concerns me is that it not consistent across all shifts... it is particularly the 2-3 shift that is hard. Kind of like dumping the clutch on a standard when the engine revs are mismatched (too low), and you get a shudder.

I will check the trans fluid level... I had not thought of that - Thanks!

My master transmission mechanic said that it was the need for smooth, imperceptable shifts that put more burden on the working internals of the tranny, causing early failure... if the shifts are harder - could be an attempt to return to the days of dependablity once more...

if you are trying to say that acura redisigned something then no . i install as many as 4 tranissions per week and all are smooth....there are exceptions but untill customer complains about it no attempt to fix it is made

the "shock" that the shifts between 2-3 cause is a result of a quicker transition between the 2 gears, as not to cause "as" much wear on the clutches... it was determined that this was a cause of premature wear...also notice that a new ecu for the trans lowers the redline, and transitions shitfs quicker.

and also i tend to disagree with the trans fluid change thing, i've had 3 cl's and every one of them failed...i know people who would get the trans fluid changed with the motor oil, and still failed often...this is a result of poor design, and rtm...
