Lately on the Maxima forum they have had 5 transmissions die or slipping in the past 2 weeks. All forums have issues.

From what I understand Honda does not let the dealers open the transmissions. When the tranny is pulled it is sent back to honda to be rebuilt dealer never sees the inside of the tranny or what is wrong with it.

You are correct, What I have heard and sounds like they test it by doing the whole fluids test and then when they have confirmed it's fried, it is shipped out and dealt with. They just put it back in.

I understand that from a logistical & cost point of view BUT how
about a little explanation or information for the vehicle owner ???

Aren't the service reps curious about what's failing on the transmissions ??????

I know WE are !!!!!!

I PM'd him and asked. He said something about clutches. Although even automatics have clutches, not sure if he knows that. I would think he ment manual but who knows.

I don't think they know. Headquarters seems to be pretty serious when they say just ship the entire thing back so we can take a look without tampering.
