Dealership goodwill..too good to be true !?

I went into Woodbine acura and told them my trans had a very rough 2nd gear engagement (also misses shifting in and out of third in SS sometimes). I am now out of warrenty (sept.00).
The parts guy (who owns a CL) got the service manager to hook me up with a goodwill replacement. He also said my CPU would be changed, and when i objected he said "well I can save your CPU and put it back in after the trans change"

This sounds a lil too good to be true
I have 86,000miles on origional trans...

should I do the replacement?

And if i use SS mode does it matter what CPU i have because i can control all the shifts can't I?? wouldnt the corolla-esque shifting only happen during D5
But i bet you can't redline first with the new CPU!!

Thanks

so...your transmission is about to take a shit, and you're wondering whether or not to get it fixed for free? yes. get it fixed.

JadeFox 10-22-2007 11:38 AM

yeah i must be out to lunch..

Wow, you are so lucky.
Maybe i should give all dealer a call when my time comes.
Its better to try than not do anything

if you are smart you will take the new PCM and they will flash it with the latest firmware.

I have 86,000+ miles, and I just turned mine into the dealership. they said that they'll replace it and that the tranny is covered by the extended (transmission) warranty). I had the same problems you described, but this happened in regular AUTO mode. Mine is an '01, though.

What is the difference between the new PCM and the stock PCM?? Firmware ??
just curious..

Also this dealership has a RonJon section with his rims and a NBP TL with rons Ledgend wheels, and with the skirts it looks TOP shelf.
..they marked up your 18" servos $78 a wheel.. think i'll order mine direct ..
CHA CHING!$

I thought maybe since my car fell in the 2000 early releases that maybe my tranny was built by superman..

a transmission would cost me $2700(from dealer), i always thought it cost $4000-4500

Woodbine is a really good dealership, MIke in parts helped you, huh, he has a Gold CL, right?

Just wondering, why is that? for longevity?

Give the a dealership a call to find out. Unless you happen to know the build date. Some 2001's were built in 00, others like mine were actually built in 01.

Call Acura Care, they can give you the in service date. 7 years 9 mos from that date or 109k miles, whichever comes first.

I totally wrote those guys off because i had an issue with the service manager over thier crap rotors.
They are back in the good book though !

CleanCL whats the advantage of the upgrade?

warranty expires 7 years 9 months from the car's "IN SERVICE" date. the OP might still be covered since sept 07 + 9 months is warranty end date of june 08.

local Acura dealer will have the in service date of the car, just call and ask them.

manufacture date is listed on the vehicle sticker on the door jam. build date is irrelevant it is the in service date that counts.

because they updated the hardware AND software to fix the tranny?

JadeFox 10-23-2007 05:59 PM

so cleanCL...
..asides from the trans and chip will everything else remain the same, or will my car shift differently, and if so, can that be bypassed by the SS mode ?
..sorry for killing the questions - thanks !

JadeFox 10-23-2007 06:01 PM

..I believe that the extra 9 months applies only to the american warranty not the canadian warranty..
