Continuing to Alert NHTSA with Transmission Problems

I called NHTSA to file a complaint about my failed transmission and even though they closed the case (PE 02-081) because they were satisfied with Acura's extended warranty and they did not see the problem as a safety issue that warrants a recall.

I think its still important that we continue to report the complaints and where and when it happened so that they can track the risks associated with the problem. I know if I had been in more traffic, I could have potentially been in an accident. I was told that they would continue to review the complaints and if there were a larger number of them opened they would re-open the case for further investigation. Maybe we could get a recall, which would mean that Acura would fix the problem correctly the first time. They can not afford to recall all affected cars multiple times.
