Ah crap... I think my transmission is toast!

Son of a...

Going in to an interview this morning, going 60mph in D5 and WHAM... Downshift into 2nd. Fortunately, I wasn't going faster than that. Traffic probably saved me.

I left off the gas, put it in nuetral and then quickly into SS. Caught it in 4th and everything after that was fine!!!

So... I called the dealer, told him the situation. No Check engine light, no flashing D5, car drive sfine after the one instance. Told me to bring it in, gonna get me in a rental and swap out the tranny. I wonder if they'll try to reproduce the problem??? He said "I'm gonna replace... Don't want you to be driving it regardless", so we'll see...

Funny thing is, I checked my tranny fluid yesterday, or the day before (can't remember) and it looked and smelled fine.

Ah well... Maybe I'll get a new one, get all my rattles fixed, the sunroof TSB, and god knows what else.

I'm off to McGrath...

Toast...

First off, I'm gonna say that McGrath Acura has been world-class so far.

I get to the dealer and meet the the service guy I spoke with over the phone. Very nice guy...

I explained my situation, my disgust and my concern over the tranny, and the lack of safety that I feel. He proceeds to mention the 7yr/100K warranty, but does NOT mention that the problem has been resolved. I asked him how many they've done, and I'm walked over to the corner of service area, where FIVE trannys are on the floor. Those were waiting to be installed in other CL/TLs!!!

I then asked him "Has the issue been resolved?" He shook his head and said, "I don't know. I sure hope so." I then asked him what is replaced for something like this and he said the tranny, torque converter and IF Acura sends them an ECU. I asked him why only on some occasions for the ECU, and he said it's something that Acura decides on. I mentioned if there has been any talk of a "recall" and he proceeded to mention the NHTSA situation.

Waiting time was given to me at 2-3 days to get the tranny, although he said it may be longer. Possible mid-next week is what I was told, I'll get a call next week.

So, I'm in a Chevy Impala, paying on a car for probably over a week that I don't have. That's what pisses me off the most.

I did manage to get two free tickets to the Chicago Auto Show.

I'm going to file with the NHTSA and call Acura Customer Service and, well... Speak how I feel.

Just called Acura Cusotmer Service.

What a fucking kick in the balls!!!

I calmly voiced my concern over the whole transmission issue. I mean, I was calm...

The bitch's response... "I'll be sure to file a claim on your behalf noting your concern." That was it. No, "I'm sorry it happened." No, "Is there anything we can do." No, "I'm gald you weren't hurt."

Fuck YOU Acura. You ignorant fucking assholes!
