Well, I promised a review, and now I'm delivering.

I had Yokohama Advan S4 235/45ZR17 94W mounted on the same SSR Integral-GT1 17x7.5J +48 wheels on my 2003 3.2CL Type S 6MT. Again, my car is lowered on Tien Springs with Koni adjustable dampers and has the usual Comptech suspension upgrades.

I've had the tires on for 10,000 miles and through four seasons. Rotated once at 5,000 miles. Wear is as expected (ie: not much at this point).

Compared to the Sumitomos HTR+ these were somewhat better in dry and much better in snow - at least it seemed that way - I could be biased comparing relatively old versus relatively new tires. Nonetheless, the S4s do in dry & wet as one would expect from a high performance four season tire. I thought they were quite good in snow - we had a couple days with 4-5" of snow pack on the road that I was able to survive without too much problem. Two inches of snow pack was no big deal at all for this tire...then again, I don't push it in those conditions either. I had very limited ice experience last winter and the tires did just OK here.

Rating them in comparison to all-season tires, out of five total, I'd rate the Advan S4s as follows:

I purchased them last year from TireRack at $193 each and I think my local installer charged ~$20 for mount and balance. These are a bit more expensive then some other high performance four season tires, but I think do perform well a their price point.

Would I buy them again? I think so. I like them better then the Yokohama Avid W4S on the Forester and might switch to these when they wear. I'm also considering using them as winter units for the STI, but am also thinking of going to dedicated winter performance tires to maintain the level of grip the STI gives/demands.
