Wider tires = random steering
Since I installed the 235 series tires I've had problems while driving on irregular road surfaces. The steering wheel would jerk left and right over bumps.
I just received my Comptech sways and Neuspeed strut bar today in the mail. I put the strut bar on (since it only took 15 minutes) and DAMN!!!! Most of that annoying pull is gone! The steering feels so much tighter.
The sways go on sometime next week. I can't wait to feel the difference. I'm literally amazed at the difference just the strut makes. I wish I had done this before!!!

How much tighter is the steering? Good or too tight?
This is my experience with Sway bars. I had H&R Sport springs with stock sway. Then i upgraded to Teins with Neuspeed sway. THe Teins and neuspeed sway seems to handle worse then H&R SS and stock. I think the H&R spring rate is higher than stock..and the Tein Spring rate is lower. But my ride is smoother now.

The steering doesn't feel any "tighter" really...just seems to stay centered better. I don't have to correct the car as often. When taking turns, I can almost sense less flex. Could just be me trying to justify $100.

I notice when my tire pressure is high, the wandering is less noticeable. but that maybe the same with all tires.
when my car travels all over the road I know its time to check the P.S.I.

I had wide tires on my Prelude and there were plenty of times that the car steered for itself. Just be careful. Wide tires look great but they are a little more dangerous on some roads.

huh, I put some 235/45-17 HTR+'s on my car last week. I haven't noticed any random pulling. Maybe I just need to hit a bad road somewhere. It does handle a lot better now though.

I've noticed the same random steering. I just put on 17X7.5 45 offset rims with 234/45/17 tires.
I have the Neuspeed stur bar waiting at home for me to install. I thought it was my offset causing this.... probably both.
I hope the bar helps. I'll also be installing Polyurethane front sway bushing in a week. between the two, I hope to get the "new car" feeling back.

The actual tread design probably has more to due with how the car tracks (or wanders).
Some designs can exacerbate the cars directional stability. A tire's designer is trading off a TON of factors (road noise, life, wet handling, harshness, etc).
The car's current alignment setting (TOE) can also impact this (i.e. the new tires could "amplify" any existing toe problems -- if the toe is not set to factory spec.)
