Used RJ DT3 wheels

Hi guys,

This weekend going to look at a set of RJ DT3's the ad mentions they are 19x8.5 with light curb damage.

they are listed for $800, this seems extremely low but I will check them out anyways.

Anyways, just wanted to get some opinions, on tire fitment for these wheels and any other info from current or past owners of them and what I should inspect, I don't know much about 3 piece assemblies. Thanks.

here is a pic he sent me

I hope they are not bent or cracked because for this price you can get 1 brand new rim lol.

Its difficult to see in the pics, but I dont think those are the forged version.

Check for air leaks and bends.

For the CL its actually 235/35-19 to keep the speedo accurate.

Since theyre 19x8.5 +40mm, you'll need to roll the rear fenders and trim the bumper tabs.

Yup was thinking of that as well, I already have a winter and summer set, so I think I will just go to check out the condition, and if I can get them refinished I'll try to flip them. But I have a feeling at this price, there's a bent/cracked rim.

Thanks for the info guy.

Yea, the price is pretty low. Or maybe the seller doesnt really know what they are/how much theyre worth?

The lowest Ive seen a set go for was $1200, and that was with a wheel that leaked.

Ok so I got them today, for 600, they are in pretty bad shape cosmetically, but physically sound, no visible bends, cracks. They seem to be the non-forged versions, Ron, if you come by this please chime in.

My plan now is most likely to try and restore them, and flip them.

I'm doing some research now about 3pieces, but please give me any tips you may have on how I should go about handling the wheels.

Can I remove the nuts and the center spokes while still on the tire? or do I have to get them unmounted first?

Torque specs? best method? should I even try this project? lol

let me know your thoughts

this is probably the wheel in the worst shape

left tire was blown, but the rim seems to be okay, will have to get it checked out by a tech.

btw these came off a TL driver...pffft

How the hell can someone drive on those???

And IIRC, those arent the forged version. Before I bought mine, I sent a pic to Rondy and he said they were forged because of the stamped RJ emblem on the face:

They are indeed mine for the moment. Theyre powdercoated, and filthy in that pic. Heres a better one:

did you get the pieces powedercoated seperately?

what pattern and size are the rivets, and torque specs.

can I take off the center spokes with tires on, or should I get them all dismounted before hand.

sorry for all the noob questions, like I said I'm not all that familiar with 3piece assemblies =)

I might take it to a buddy in western mass for PC, his friend has a shop and hopefully can get a decent deal, I think he mentioned about 100 per, which sounds pretty good from shopping around so far.

thanks in advance for any info.

I feel a little better versed now after watching this video

I guess the only real question I have are the torque specs and the bolt size for the RT-3
