TiresPlus says cant do alignment correctly on a lowered car? tru?

i went to tiresplus cuz my tires are wore down like crazy on the inside half of the tire. i am lowered on HR sports, so im betting my camber is off. tiresplus says that they cannot do a correct alignment on a lowered car. once its lowered, u cant fix the alignment... something about they dont kno the original placement of the tires.. is this true?? is there anything i can do about this?

Go somewhere else cause they do not know what they are talking about.

You can align any car no matter how low it is. You might need a camber kit to correct it. The spec can be printed out from alldata, or any other tech database that has the factory alignment specs.

I wouldn't let anyone do an alignment except a dealer (sorry I can't recommend anyone in ATL). A good service dept. will be able to assist you. Good luck.

Firestone had told me the same thing with my Maxima a while back. I go to a shop that deals with wheels and tires and they do a really good job.

My dad told me it's a lot more difficult to do but it can be done.

(he's a mechanic for Chrysler)

Its not that they can't, they just won't. Most of the big chains of tire stores won't do alignments on lowered cars. I've tried discount tire, firestone, etc and none would touch my car. Try local tuner shops or the dealer.

its hard for them to correct the camber unless you have a camber kit installed. so most of them tell you to F.O.

Mine is lowered...and so was my GSR.. Maybe it is because I bought the 3 year alignment deal on both cars...

I never had any tire shop refuse an alignment. In fact they would always ask if I wanted one.

you guys saying they are wrong, are wrong.

to fix your tire wear problem they would need to adjust the camber, which isn't possible on our cars w/o a camber kit. all they can do right now is set the toe angle.

if you get a camber kit(s) they should be able align your car just fine.

I brought my car to 3 Discount Tire locations and was denied from all of them. I offered to buy that lifetime alignment thing, I even tried to tip/bribe the guy. Wouldn't touch my car. Same at 2 Firestone dealers.

Maybe its just a Phoenix policy b/c of all the mexicans with the ghetto civics

Doesn't seem like a lot of you have ever done alignments. Most japanese cars are adjustable toe only, its a quite profitable part of their business....a car can be done and set to spec within 15mins with a good tech.. Well, here is the low down. Most places that do alignments use laser machines. If the lasers, can't clear the bottom of the front, they cant get an accurate read. Now, if the tech spends a little bit of time....he can usually get it to read (mine has a 2.5 inch drop in front.....takes a bit more time.). Now getting it aligned to within spec is possible without a camber kit if the lowering isnt too much (there is a bit of camber already dialed into our cars).
