tire pressure

how does the tire pressure vary with the changing weather?? on my 16 inch tires, i believe it says to fill up to 44 psi. But the thing i am asking is when is the best time to check the pressure and fill up with air?

I believe that in hot weather pressure increases and at cold weather it decreases? or is it the other way around? So if i were to do it when its really hot or really cold i would get incorreect readings..

You're supposed to check and fill tires COLD, no matter what season it is.

That means, before you drive; best time is first thing in the morning.

I think air pressure increases 1psi per 10 degrees F increase and vice versa.

No matter what the ambient temps, your tire pressure will rise after a few miles of driving. Mine rises a full 7psi from cold to "hot"

I was told by a customer service manager at Continental Tire that there is a 1 psi change for every 5 miles of driving up to a max of 4 psi change. I have confirmed this repeatedly by setting my tire pressure 'hot" at 36 and the next morning it will be 32.

1PSI for every 10 degree F

Great article on tire pressure, it's worth a read:
