Question Spring Rates....

I'm looking through the different full coil over set ups and what is available, but I'm noticing that a lot of the spring rate set ups are 10k-12k front, 5k-7k rear. But then people say the Teins are pretty smooth and they're only 7k/4k? Some manufacturers don't even list the spring rates. If you have any input on how smooth your set up is, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to make the tires flush to the wheel well, have a pretty smooth ride but still dive into a corner every now and again, but not full race.

  • F&F Type 1: FRONT:10k REAR:6k
  • F&F Type 2: FRONT:12k REAR:10k
  • TEIN Basic: FRONT:7k RAR:4k
  • TEIN SS: FRONT:7k REAR:4k
  • D2: FRONT:12k REAR:7k
  • KSport Street: FRONT:12k REAR:7k
  • KSport Pro: FRONT:12k REAR:7k
  • Blackworks: FRONT: REAR:
  • MeganRacing EZ: FRONT:12k REAR:5k
  • Megan Street: FRONT:14k REAR:6k
  • KIDO: FRONT:13k REAR:6k
  • KW Viriant: FRONT:Progressive REAR:

I had a set of Megans on my Civic @ 8k front/6k rear and it was actually a smooth ride for being so low and could really handle a corner. This is only for the full coilovers, not the sleeves. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The reason the spring rates are so high is because the struts are undervalved, so they do that to compensate for it.

After a little more research, I think I'm going to be ordering the F&F Type 1 set up to keep a smoother ride. Seems like a lot of people are really happy with them for street driving, but said if you want to race that the F&F Type 2 or KW Viriants are the way to go.

The only other ones that really appeal to me are the Megan EZ but dampening is not available.

I was looking at the F&F type 1's also. I have a friend with an 07 tl-s and he says that ride is comfortable. So if you do end up getting them let me know what you think. I am just worried about how long is the life on them.
