Rim weight reduction and Fitment question

Model: 2003 Acura Cl Type S 6 Speed (athrancite color)
Stock rims 17" 7 width? 25 lbs?

possible rim purchase: Kosei K4R
16"
6.5 width
12.4 lbs via tire rack
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...3&autoModClar=

first off, would these rims fit w/o rubbing or buying other parts (spacer etc.)
I have no knowledge of rim fitment, suspension etc. I know i will have to buy different tires, i just want to know if they would fit

2nd: How would this affect my cars handling/drivability?
I know that lighter wheels act similarly to a lighter flywheel, increasing rpm spool up, thus possibly making quicker acceleration

but are 16 inch rims a downgrade?
there are also 17 inch rims that are light weight (price and least weight are a big factor for me), but i like the design of these rims

pls list the pros and cons of going 16 inch ( i know the non type s have 16s stock, but i also know the difference in suspension from the type s)
and plz let me know if there are other options that are viable for my goal: increase performance (acceleration)

thank you for exploding your heads!

The ride will be softer since there will be more sidewall on a 16 inch tire.
The wheels will fit though.

Awesome thanks my fellow asian. You think it would decrease my speed? Probably top speed?

Top speed on this car is 148. There's no reason to take it that high unless your on the track. If you were on the track, you probably wouldn't be running 16s.
But if your wondering if going to 16s will effect everyday driving performance then the softer sidewall will cause more body roll. Getting different wheels/tire combo will effect performance if they are heavier/lighter then your current setup. It's not just the weight of the rim but also the weight of tires.

ahh i see thank you. so basically will it

increase my acceleration if i get lighter rims and lighter tires?

Dude, dont do that...You are looking at rims that are narrower then your stocks..and smaller diameter will look too small....if you want performance, then stick with 17Inch wheels and go alittle wider and lighter wheels...

The decrease in width would affect your handling as well...see if you can find some 17x8 width and 25lbs or less...Also consider your goal with the car...Lighter wheels will increase accelaration, better braking, and better handling of your car....Hope this helps

But 16s are lighter then 17s. They don't look that small since they came on the CL-Ps.
I agree that width will increase traction and handling but the wider the wheels, the more they weigh. Something that the OP will need to take into consideration when deciding.

when dealing with offset, just remember the higher the number, the more the wheels are sunk in...the lower the offset, the more the wheels come out towards your fenders..giving a better look. Smaller diameter does not always mean lighter, just as much as wider equaling heavier....You just need to look at high end wheel companies that sell forged or semi-forged wheels(Volks,SSR etc.....)
