My experience is Michelin is pricy but great in handling.
You never really how good others handle till you buy, install, drive.
That being said I would have a greater list of who to stay away from
{GYear, BFG, Yoko, FStone}.
Since you want good warranty value try Conts. but they wont handle as well.
Kumho Estra may be better but have not used em.

Lots of good tires out there. In a stock 17" size these Hankook V12 Evo are a good mix of handling, comfort, quiet and decent tread life for less than half the cost of the Michelins at $416 delivered. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=215

Have a set of the Continental DW tires (stock size). Quite possibly the best tires I have ever had. Before these I had the original michelins, eagle gt's, and kumho ecsta asx's...the DW's easily outshine them all IMO

I love my Hankooks, but they are a dedicated summer tire. The Conti DWS' are all seasons. I havent tried the DWs (those are the summer tire version), but they are on my short list to try out.

DWS. good in all categories, environmentally. if you want pages of DWS discussion head over to the 3G TL side.

what kind of driving conditions will you need in a tire? and what are you looking to get out of your tires? toyo's are decent, good years suck, kumho's i personally have not tried them, a friend had them...he hated them...

Okay living in Socal and originally coming from Hawaii, I'm insensitive to any folks living in SNOW. Ya'll who do should live Elsewhere. So yes DWS looks like a quality bet.

Civicdrivr it looks like we similar taste in tires. I'll let you know how the DW tires pan out next week after I get the timing belt service done.

I hate the snow. Funny thing is - since I bought a dedicated set of winter wheels and snow tires, it hasnt snowed at all

I cant wait for March.

thats why i dont think i will buy another set of winter tires anymore... DWS is just good enough for this weather sometimes gets warmer and sometimes cold/rain/snow/ice
they handle well all of it snow tires might be better for snow/ice but thats all... when it gets warmer they will wear out quickly

The Generals I have are decent up to about 50*s, then they get very soft. Unfortunately, we'll have days in the 30s and 40s then one day sandwiched in there in the 60s. The Hankooks dont work well below 55-60*s. Thats why Im trying to move somewhere so I dont have to deal with winter.

As suggested by civicdrivr, the Continental DWS tires are great. I've had them in all 4 tires. They are quiet & smooth. Stay away from Bridgestone Potenza Grid 019 (from my experience) unless you like 100 decibel road noise - they are POS.

when I got my car, it had hankooks on it and I live in MN... did not have serious issues in the snow that year they were on the car. You are right about the hankooks in regard to temps the colder it gets the HARDER they get and the less effective they are

I changed them out for the tires I have now. I am not into agressively driving my car but the airizonian tires do well when pushed and they have good grip on wet and snowy surfaces

What Hankooks? The Ventus V12 Evo summer tires? Ive run them for part of a winter but there was very little grip in the snow.
