nitto 555 size 225/45-18 rubbing wheel well
Has anyone else had a problem with the nitto 555's in 225/45-18 rubbing right above the mud flap on drivers side? they are mounted on konig Unknown rims and the drivers front wheel rubs on the edge of the fender above the mud flap when i have some weight in the car (2-3 people) or when take turns at insane speeds while encountering bumps mid-turn. I dont want to go down in tire size to 215's, are there any other, some what low cost solutions?

thanks but ...
thanks for the input guys...so the group consensus seems to go to a thinner profile/sidewall on the 225's. so 225/40-18? that would prob eliminate the rubbing issue.
but...
on the tire size calculater (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html) it shows that stock rim/tire diameter is 25.7 inches, and that a 225/40-18 tire diamter is 25.1 inches. when my speedo says 60 MPH, i will only really be going 58.6MPH. wouldnt this indicate that my odometer would be putting on extra miles than i was really traveling? that means the odometer is reading too fast by 2%. for every hundred miles of actual travel its recording 2 extra? is this right...or am i totally off track with this whole thing.

the rims' offset were 18X7.5 5-100/114.45B. funny thing, i actually took one of my rims off and put it up to my stock rim (and tire) and the Konig was at least an inch taller?>? i got my Konig's from Discounttiredirect.com and they said that they would be the same diameter as stock. oh well i just took the Konig's off and sent them back to discounttire direct (and got a full refund after driving around on them for 4 months about 10,000 miles) and put my stocks back on. The car was driveable with the Nitto's on, only rubbed with weight from people in car. Oh well, i sent them back b/c Winter is rolling around, and put the stockers back on (they look terrible). I plan on getting a whole new set of rims late February. I'll take your advice and this time ill get 225 or 235/40-18's. thanks for the help.
