NEED YOUR OPINIONS! What Cheap/Good Tires to replace Michelin MXM4 215/50/17??
I'm sort of looking around at tires to replace the stock michelins that my TL-S came with, but I have no idea where to start.
I want to replace the whole set of 4, but the MXM4 pilots are ridiculous at 185 a pop.
Do you guys have any good suggestions for cost-effective, yet reliable tires to replace these bad boys?
what do you guys use?
COST is a major emphasis here for me. thanks.

how are those tires in terms of durability, do you know? because i'm looking less for performance and more for long-lasting tires, at a cheap price. thanks for your help.

I have run the Kumho 711 and now have Goodyear Eagle LS on my CL.
Kumho was a good tire but a little rough, and it's cheap. The Goodyear is a great all around tire, not the cheapest you will find, however.

Cruising in ATL!!
185 for MXM4? that's not so bad considering it was like 200 a pop in ATL.
I went with yokoham v4s for about 600 installed. I don't notice anything different so that's a good thing but rather saved about 300 bucks for not going with stock ones.
I really can't understand some of these ppl who claim our stock one as shitty-ass tires when they are one of the most expensive tires you can buy in the market. Michellin isn't stupid. They wouldn't make up their price if the tires were so 'shitty'.. my two cents

^yeah they would, because most car owners don't really study before they purchase new tires... they just replace their tires with the exact same ones that their car came with.
knowing that people will do this, they mark up the price of any stock/oem tires because people will blindly purchase them whatever the cost.
they'll be too afraid to try other tires and just end up buying the same ones... even if they are expensive. i've seen this phenomenon with pretty much every stock tire.

based on this survey, higher price does not equal to better tire

i have the yokohama avid v4s which are fine (but i'm not an aggressive driver ) and cheap around $107 each from tirerack.com and they are rated the best in their class (all-season).

Uhh no sorry, not to be rude, but i have done extensive RESEARCH ON TIRES< FOR MY CLS. First of all, the reason The michelins are sooooooo expensive is because they are a Factory tire, meaning, most luxury car companies, i.e.....VW< Acura, LEXUS< etc...use that specific tire, when the car is on the lot, "brand New", the dealer gets the tire at a really good deal, for instance, they buy that tire for a whole lot less, due to the volume, and brand loyalty when the car owner needs to replace them. Next, the michelins are made of an EXTRA SOFT compound rubber, to give superior ride comfort, and most of all, smooth driving, traction. That is why the main concern is , they only last for about 15, 000 miles, thats it. Thats why when someone who has had the michelins and replace them with tires such as the ones stated in this thread, they notice more of a rough, different, stiff ride.
