Need tire advise ASAP

I don't know how it happened but something sliced the rubber on the inner side wall of my tire today. The tire itself was only 12months old.

I need to get a replacement tire/s tomorrow early. So i need to know the best way to go.

My 3 other Michelin tires have about 20000miles left on them. I don't want to buy just 1 Michelin Pilot tire as it would make no sence, i could buy 2 tires, but its going to cost me $230 per tire.

I have to say i like these tires, despite what other people have said about them, there smooth and quite and have given me the best on MPG on long trips.

As no where else was open i went to pepboys and they offered me this tire

Ventus HRII H405

http://www.hankooktireusa.com/produc..._ID=18&CatID=5

The pepboy guy said it was just as good as the Michelin Pilot tire, but i can buy them for $98 each....

Does anyone know anything about this tire. For the price of 2 Michelin Pilot tires, i could get 4 Ventus hankook tires, i like the threading on them and it feels like a soild tire.

Anyone ??? Suggestions ???

I need to get something by 9am tomorow

Thanks.........

Looks like it gets better reviews then the pilots ...

"neil "JETTA 1.8T - Very pleasantly surprised at these tires, less than 1/2 the price of my previous Michelin MXM tires, they have a higher treadware rating of 340 versus 280, they are very quiet and handle well at speeds up to 220km (135 mph) are good in the rain. I will have to let you know how they are in snow come winter time. Nice looking tire also, so why pay twice the price??""

"2004 ACURA TL - GRIPPY GRIPPERTON, THESE TIRES DEFINITELY AMAZED ME, AND THEY WERE OFF THE TOP FOR THE PRICE! "

Here is the review for the M/pilots, not as good

Here is the complete list of tires suitable for the CLS

I currently have the Ventus HRII on my CL-S. They ride nice and quiet. The grip isnt the best out there, but they are above average. I would recommend tire for comfort but not for performance.

Exclamation

Not a good idea mixing tire brands. Replace all tires with a different brand or replace the bad tire with same brand, model, and size. My

I'm tough on tires, so I done it all. Replaced one michelin (with a bubble) with a used oem that I bought from a member here. Then another oem let go after a "situation" with a pothole. Bought 2 yokohama V4S for the front. Kept one of the oems as a spare. Used that one on the rear when I hit a curb going a little to fast...

I've got the 2 yoko all seasons up front, and 2 oems in the rear. I don't see a problem with mixing and matching different brands as long as they are on the same end of the car. Match the fronts and rears

Buy 2 tires, and keep the remaining one as a spare for when one of the remaining 2 oems eventually go.

EDIT: the reason I went with the yokos was that I wanted a all season in the stock size with the same load rating (93) and speed rating as the stockers.

I tore one open a couple weeks ago when I hit a pothole. I found one used with essentially the same amount of thread. I think there is a sale on the Blackmarket for a couple. It's a couple days old, but maybe he still has a couple.

Upgrade to 4 Toyo T1's. Either stock size or 235-45-17. If you go to Tire Kingdom, I have copons for sets of 4 tires plus if you get their credit card you get an additonal 10% off only for this month though.

Depends on what you want...

If you're looking for something for every day driving and close to OEM, go with the Yoko's AK420. I replaced my MXM4's for these and love them. I like them a LOT more than the Michellin's. The Michellin's have a soft sidewall and I would squeak a lot coming around certain corners (yes, even when I'm not taking it hard..hehe) and the grip wasn't quite there to my liking. The 420's have been great, hold great in wet weather and the sidewall is much much better. I got them from Disc.Tire for about $120 a piece..much better than $230 for the MXM's.

Well i finally got 4 Ventus HRII H405, they dont look bad and for the price $90 they will do until i decide what to do with the car. Pepboys said if i dont like them, i have 30days to bring them back and i can swap them out for 2 pilots.

I'll report in a week, let you know what i think of the tires.

oh dude you went to pepboys!!!! you better check your car out make sure they tightened things down right, & tq'd the lugs. I would never let them touch any car of mine after hearing what they did to some of my friends cars.

The tires aren't bad, but they are a get what you pay for tire. Don't expect too much out of them. They are better then stock tires though.

fuzzy,

I watched the guy the whole time, i just did not have alot of time to be running around to every tire dealer checking out tires, as long as the job was done correct i'm fine with that, and from today it apprears to be the case, but i'll check the rims tomorrow ..

I don't need to tell you how it is in S Florida, when it comes to Mx centers fixing car's, they just dont give a dam ..... I drove about 300miles today, and i can feel a better difference, very quite too, just waiting for some rain to see how they handle there. I did notice Better fuel consumption also.

For $90 a tire i'm not going to complain, if i had my mind set on keeping my CLS, i would of bought 4 new pilots, but why spend close to a $1000 on tires when i'll never get it back......
