Need help picking tires...

Going with 235/40/18.

Max or Ultra High Performance Summer Tire

Under $200

I'm looking at these three right now:

BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT UTQG: 300AA

Bridgestone Potenza S03 UTQG: 220AA

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 UTQG: 280AA

The Goodyear's are the most expensive, but there is a $75 Goodyear rebate going on now so that puts it on par with the other two.

Any other suggestions?

I looked at the same tires you are considering and decided on the Goodyear's. For me it was the right choice and I am very happy. My Eagle's have been on for 12,000 miles and look like they will last over 40,000 miles. Remember that the treadwear numbers are manufacturer's estimates.

Review the tests on the Tirerack website. I believe all your choices, except for the Toyo's, were tested. Consider the tradeoffs between each of the tires to match what you want. All of the tires you are considering would make an excellent choice. You may wish to consider the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (expensive) and the Pirelli PZero Nero also.

I heard Falken makes a good Summer tire with longer treadware than most and for about 100 bucks a tire.

Toyo T1S.
I will never buy another GY tire becasue of past problems with their tires, & their customer service, or lack of it.

If you can find some for $200 each, I'd go with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, 235/40ZR18s. They are also good in the wet.

I'm leaning towards the BFG's or these:

Pirelli PZero Nero

Also, I might go with 225s if I can't find the ones I want in 235s. The selection in 225 is SO MUCH better than 235

I got the PZero Nero XL (extra load)... higher load rating than SO3's that is the only reason why I got them this time around...

yeah so what the So3 got 220 treadwear... they are sticky high performance tires.. if your worried about treadwear just buy some winter tires and ride around town like a clown or hit the highway and get driven nuts by road noise from those 380 treadwear tires..

Mr. Steve,
Smitty's comment about the Neros in the snow is the reason why I never got them and got the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 in 235/45 instead. And with you living in Maryland, I think you might get some snow.

From Smitty:
"If you plan on running a Pirelli P Zero Nero tire in the snow you better have your will in order and pin a note on your shirt-->

"Take me to _____ Hospital if you find me almost dead"

The P Zero Nero is a High Performance tire ONLY...

So the answer is easy... go with the Conti Ext. Contact"

I know that buddy... the tire size gave it away... all I am saying is, for a summer set-up you can not go wrong with the S03's....but i know, you want some meat for your money...

I've never driven on Khumo's but apparently they are worth the price.. maybe look into that also.

I also heard that on ebay, you get the tires for cheap and they are not refurbished or anything like that. You can get good deals....

Again, IMO

Yoko Parada Spec II with XL load capacity! I like them alot!

I would of gotten the BFG but if I am not mistaken I think it is only an 88 load capacity, beautiful tire but our cars cant handle that low of a capacity.
