Looking for opinions on these tires
Replacing stock michelins on my 3.2 cl-s and I am looking at three tires and just want to know if anyone has any opinions. got alot of info on www.tirerack.com
Here's what they said: all tires 225/50-17 high performance all season
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S $198
W rated
Great reviews only poor reviews from obvious morons
Avon Tech M550 A/S $118
W rated
Great Reviews only complaints some said poor quality control. 2 out of 4 tires were out of round, and complained of flat spots
Yokohama Avid V4s $103
V rated
Great reviews only complaints were of flat spots
someone also mentioned Toyo Proxes $?
sometimes there really is a quality difference in higher priced items-sometimes you pay for a name. I have bought cheaper items before and wished that I had spent the extra $ because it would've been cheaper in the long run

The pilot AS tires are nice, but thay are too expensive. You can get = tires for alot less $$. Your paying for the name. I did have a set.
I hear the avid's are nice. I know some guys have those.
BTW the tire rack sales people are morons & tell you alot of BS, just cause they don't know any better.

Personally, I would recommend the 235 45 17 tire size as well. I have a 2003 CLS six speed and the stock tire size just does not cut it. It seems like I have very little traction from a start and have to launch very carefully to avoid wheelspin.
The 235 45 17 size also matches the 215 50 17 tire diameter. Honestly, there have been some mixed feelings going with a tire size that is a little bigger than what is recommended for the stock wheels, but if you stick with a good high performance tire you should be okay.
I do like the reviews on the Toyo Proxes 4 (1010tires.com), and they are very reasonably priced as well (see edgeracing.com). I do not believe Tirerack sells Toyo tires, however. Just make sure you get an alignment done after you get your new tires - it is usually recommended.
Good luck!
