les schwab quote...OUCH...check this out all

I went in today after having some Jimboy's Tacos for lunch. It was cool since they were next door. Might as well check them out. They have a cool virtual machine that you can use for our cars to view wheels and lowering. Anways...

I got a quote for the following:

Eibach Pro Damping shocks
Eibach Pro Kit
Alignment
camber kit (if needed)

This went to blah since they dont make the Eibach Pro Damping kit of our cars...so she got the line with their suspension line and got a new quote. Awesome customer service, I have to note. Very friendly.

New Quote:

$307.50 Tokiko shocks (i hope this was just a mispell in their system and not a knock off)
$450.00 Tokiko springs (2"F and 1.7"R)
$345.01 Camber Kit
$69.95 Four wheel alignment
$240.00 Labor
$85.44 Tax

Total $1497.90

What really sucks is that when I called Tokico direct, the gentleman there said they dont make the springs for the 2001 Acura CL-S and they dont sell the springs and shocks sepertaley..only as a kit....
Going by that I could still get the Eibach pro-kit from Les Schwab, but their price on them was $302.59...but could get them from www.c-c-c.net for $209 or better yet the HR Sports for $185...holy cow batman...

Just getting the parts from www.c-c-c.net would be: (including shipping)

$350.00 Tokico shocks
$205.00 H&R Sport springs
$375.00 SPC camber kits

Lets say $70 for alignment
Keep the $240 for labor

$1310 Total with rough est on tax

So with it being only about $180 difference, should I just get it done at Les Schwab using the Eibach Pro-Kit? Since the lowering is less with the H&R Sports, I think I would go with those. Not sure on the price though..but I know it would be lower. Would I save a huge chunk of money if I went with a private owned shop?

The spring and camber kit costs seem out of line.

As others have pointed out H&R Sport springs go for $125-$200 depending on where you get them. At most you may need a rear camber kit. Why not wait until the springs are installed and settled a bit. Then go get an alignment to see where the rear camber is at. They should be able to get the front in spec. If the rear is out you will need a rear camber kit. I got mine at Tire Rack for $165.

the kit was for both front and rear...I guess that is why it cost so much. The springs I think I would go with the H&R's from somewhere, which yes, I've seen them go from 125-200. How is the labor looking though for all that work?

you can easily get Tokico's blue's for like 279 shipped on ebay and some have found them even cheaper than that ..

if you want to wait a few weeks I'll have my tokico shocks off my car and a brand new set of comptech\eibach springs

The labor cost is competitive if it includes labor for the springs and camber kit. I paid $150 for labor on the springs and $70 install for the rear camber kit after the alignment.
