Help with Toxico HP / H&R Sport Setup!

I'm looking to buy Toxico HP struts and H&R Sport springs for my 01 CL-S. But I have a few questions first...

About how much will this setup lower the front and rear? Are there any rubbing issues? And will this be a problem in the winter (a lot of snow here in boston!).

Also, is anybody here selling this setup? Or can anyone suggest a good (cheap) place to get them. I searched ebay, but there's not much on there right now...

On a side note, does anybody know a good place in Boston to get my wheels reconditioned? I know there's a Wheels America in NY, but is there anything closer to me?

Thanks!

What are Toxico shocks?

I think you mean TOKICO

Go for the Konis if you want a nice pair of shocks.

I have the exact same setup and I love it...It doesnt really snow here in ATL so I cant answer your snow problems...but the drop looks pretty even...the front is a little bit lower but you really cant tell unless you put ur fingers between the tire and fender...

1.7 front and 1.5 rear

Drop is about 1.5 inchs front and back on my H&R sports (50103)

I have the same setup your looking for. I got my tokico from ebay (240 shipped)

As far as snow, I wouldn't know because you can see my snow beater to the left in my second pic (91 explorer does good as a snow beater)

Yea, I've been reading around that Tokico/H&R is one of the best setups for a CL. $240 shipped? That's a good deal... I'll look around some more, then.

How about the springs? What did you guys pay for those?

Can't go wrong with beating up a 91 Explorer

I got mine from www.c-c-c.net which is a vendor for this site. I think I paid like 200 shipped and there probably still around that price

Oh yea and I waited about 2 weeks(~300 miles) till I got an alignment and no camber kit was needed

So is a camber kit NEEDED for this setup? (I'm not too savvy on camber-related stuff, so you guys will have to spell this out for me...)

Would the alignment take care of all the camber issues?

Thanks for all the helpful responses!

Camber kit is needed on a car by car basis, with this setup its about a 50/50 chance
I took the chance that I wouldn't need one and lucked out and a standard alignment got me into specs

So how can I tell if I DO need a camber kit? And if I don't get one, will that affect my ride quality or my handling?

i'm learning so much from these boards already

You won't know till you get an alignment. Some people get a camber kit installed with the springs just incase they need it. This save on install money, but if you don't need it, its not serving much of a purpose.

If your car has too much negative camber(negative camber is caused by lowering a car) it wont handle bad(might handle better) but you will wear out the inside of your tires early

I see.... That sounds fine, as long as the tires don't wear out TOO early. Thanks for the help, spdy0001!

So does anybody have any suggestions for wheel reconditioning? Has anybody gotten it done?

Illumina's are adjustable & HP's are not. I have the Illumina's on my mustang and they rock. If you never do any racing/hard driving, and your roads are decent just get the HP's. But if you like to play with handling settings or go to the track get the Illumina's.
