Hankook Ventus R-S3?

Anyone try the Hankook R-S3? I just ordered a set and have high hopes for them.

Just curious if anyone had used them and what they thought about them.

I am running the rs-2's now. Will be running r2-3's next spring/summer. I love the rs2's. The only negative is these tires like to be warmed up, moreso than other tires.

So I got the tires today and I have to say I thought they would have stiffer sidewalls. Just feeling them off the rim.

Granted, I got 225/50/16's but I have my BFG KDW's (not KDW2) in the same size off the rim also and they are much stiffer or thicker feeling. I really like the KDW's. I only got to drive home on the new R-S3's. About 1.4 miles on a windy road but I had my son (6 years old and I'm TRYING to set a good example) in the truck so I did not get to check'em out yet. I'll be driving to work on Tuesday so we will see. I have a very familiar off ramp I like. :devilgrin

These tires are badass man! They hold so well. Now instead of feeling like the tires were going to break loose, I feel like, "wow, I think I'm going to break something"! They corner very hard and well. Low speed steering response in normal driving does feel a little on the sluggish side, in contrast to the BFG KDW's. But when you want to push them they push back and ask for more.

I likes these tires! I just wish I had a car like my avatar to go with them!

I might look into these for the next set. How are they in the rain? And how is the treadwear?

I've only done about 60 miles on them so far so I dont know about treadwear. they are rated @ 140 for treadwear though. So I'll be lucky to get 10K from them. But i've been told they only get better even when they are almost bald.

I did drive home in the rain lastnight. Heavy rain for part of it. On the highway i just slowed down a bit to about 65. Seemed to be fine. At slower speed with heavy water on the road they were ok. But then again I was trying to avoid the ruts on teh highway and roads. So i don't know how well they will do. Just looking at the tread I would guess they are not going to evacuate the standing water very well. As far as traction on wet road they did just fine.

Thanks. I probably wont get them for the CL. The V12 Ventus tires are great. Ive gotten nearly 25k out of them and they still have some life left.

But I may get these for the toy.

I have had my r-s2's on for the last 2 summers. I need to balance them cause fronts are more worn down atm, but they are holding up good. Most of the time I drive my car is for fun and I drive aggresively, so havn't racked up that many miles. Probably around 10k or so. Should last me another summer unless I start tracking the car.

Actually i find my new set of hankooks to have not enough traction especialy on wet. Last time i ran 225/40 and i was amazed now i use wider tire 235/40 and i break them loose way to easy. I will be looking for something else i guess. I was very happy with DWS which is all season.

I would guess he has the v12 evo's. I just noticed on tirerack they don't make these in 255/40/18 so I will have to use something else for my next tire.

This is correct. I have v12's but as for 255 wide tire you should go for 35 profile.

Yea I could go with either 255/40 or 255/35. For 255/40 I would go for Michelin Pilot Super Sport at $908 for 4. For 255/35 it would be between Dunlop Star Spec at $924, Hankook r-s3 at $952, or Michelin Pilot Super Sport at $948.

Such a big difference in price than my 235/45 hankook r-s2's which ran me $350.

Remember that it has gotten cooler out. Summer tires dont work as intended in cold weather.
