Full Review (Pics) of Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S

I purchased a new set of Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S in 235/45/17 from Tirerack for $127 each and installed on my 01 CLS at a local garage (cost $90) less than 2 weeks ago. In that short period of time, I got to drive on all different type of conditions thanks to NJ's weather.

Here is my unprofessional review:

Look/Noise:
I prefer this look over the stock tires. Wider and lower. One thing I noticed is that the front tires look less inflated than the rears due to the weight distribution of the car. The tires are extremely quite and smooth for high performance type.

Dry: Excellent
Handles and performs like if it is summer ONLY tire. Excellent traction, cornering, etc. Very minimal skipping if started hard.

Wet: Excellent
I drove in a heavy downpour and the car felt very safe. I almost felt like I was driving on a dry pavement. No sign of hydroplanning.

Snow/slush: Good
It drove as I expected. The tires slipped if turned or started too fast. But car will not go out of control (perhaps w/ help of VSA). I had full control of the car and felt safe on the snow.

Ice: Average
Drove very slow but the car slipped somewhat. But I expect the same for all other tires. Driving on ice is just bad for any car/tires.

Overall: Excellent
For the price, 400 tread life, I think this is one of the best tires out there. The tires are so smooth and quite, the overall driving experience is much nicer. I will recommend this tire to anyone that is looking for all-season performance , long tread life, and good value. Good job Pirelli!

I've enjoyed my Pirellis of past years. I'd seriously consider these too if I go for another M+S tire after my current set wears.

Road noise has always been a big issue with Pirelli performance tires. It sounds like that's not too big of an issue with these.

While wet and dry performance reviews are quite high, snow reviews are still a bit low for this M+S tire. In looking at TireRack reviews, Sumitomo HTR+, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, and Continental ContiExtreme are still getting better ratings in foul winter weather conditions.

Of course there'll be several new tire models out by the time I'm in the market again.

Thanksd for the great review. I am considering these as well in the same size. Amazing how stock they look. I may be sold.

they seem a little too wide for that rim... any balance/vibration issues?

No issues whatsoever.

Only thing the installer said was that the tires may not wear as nicely. Just rotate them occasionally and everything should be fine.

There are two versions of the Perilli P Zero Nero, one that is a summer tire, and one that is an all-season M+S designated tire. The M+S version is pretty new, especially in sizes that fit our car.

Thanks for the review! I need tires and I am dying to get rid of my Yokohamas! The Pirelli PZero Neros have excellent reviews. However, as someone else pointed out, they do not come in our OEM size of 215/50/17. They do have 235/45/17. My questions for you is, how has it changed your car? Does it ride rougher and stiffer? Do they rub the inside wheel well when you chuck your steering wheel left and right? Let me know about these kinds of things so I know what to expect if I get these tires.
Thanks

Couldn't see the pics, but i am a fan of that tire, although I do not like the look of a 235 tire on the stock rim.

That's because the thread is two years old.

That size is perfectly fine for our car. Not much of a difference in ride. It won't rub, even when lowered. Your speedometer will be off only by fractions of a mile.

Thanks for the info. That is what I wanted to hear.
As it turns out, the new TL runs on 235/45/17 and it looks identical in size, only a little wider. Though the OEM Michelins have a weird lip that comes out from the rim then curves away, I dont think Pirellis look like that.
Thanks for the info
