DAMN suspension!

Ok so all of a sudden I'm noticing my car's suspension is squeaking when you hit a big bump only like there no grease in there or something??

HOW do i fix this crap it's so annoying to pull into my driveway with the windows down and hear the waaaaahhhh from the suspension...

I think it's the front right but i may be wrong..

Is there any for sure fix to this issue?

PLEASE let me know

THANKS A MILLION

There's not really a fix. Might just be that your shocks are toast or on their way out. I don't think there's anything greasable there.

Get out and push on your passenger side hood and listen for a squeak on the suspension.

My suspension always squeaks...but I'm lowered so I'm not sure if that's normal.

AnthraciteBeast 06-24-2009 09:37 PM

mine does too................more like creaking noises but i know my shocks are done. Which is not necessarily a bad thing...........i can finally drop it :wish:

CL-S progression 01 06-24-2009 10:39 PM

ok ok i found out it's the rears only when u hit a decent bump... Not wehn breaking or anything. I opened my trunk an BOUNCEEED up and down and the passenger side rear is creakky...

Happened JUST after a car wash too come to think of it.... IT's Gotta be grease or something... I'm gona take off the rears and do something back there lube it upp....

No way new parts is the way to fix this stupi sound... there's gotta b a fix

disgruntlednut 06-24-2009 11:05 PM

My suspension has really started to take a shit over the past month or so. Gotta replace my two front struts (Tokico illuminas blown after 25K miles). New sway bar and endlinks, and tie rod ends...

nf3d0149ab 06-24-2009 11:08 PM

My coilovers (Tien SS-P) are not even even a year old and it's been like that since day 01.

I just kind of gave up and accepted it but I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!!!! :angryfire

Well I didn't figure it was actually the coilovers but something else but I didn't think it could be resolved.

Still sucks to listen to though... :thumbsdow

Hey when you get a chance could you post some pics of you edfc setup I would like to see it, I might be upgrading my suspension here soon and would like to run the edfc with it

CL-S progression 01 06-24-2009 11:27 PM

YOOOO just fixed the damn noise... I got my bro to stand on the trunk while it's open and bound up and down and sure enough it was NOT the struts... it was all the other bushings and shit..

So i sprayed some rust remover/penetratior, lubricating crap all into the bushings (took each wheel off) 10 mins a side. AND DONE

the lube got behind the rust and grime and freed up my CREAK..

this is definately the case for anyone with new suspension who has that same damn noise !

I'm actually probably selling my EDFC unit this week.

I haven't been using it.

I still think it's a great controller though.

I'll send you a PM with pictures of the mounted EDFC controller and where to mount it in a totally sick way.

It'll have to be tomorrow though...before I can send you the pics.

:sorry:

nf3d0149ab... try that out.. remove each wheel spray some rust remover/lubricator in there and let it sit... spay lottss in EVERY crevice (2xs for each busshing on each side) and it'll fix you up..

Ur set-up has more pressure on all the sway bars and everything else that moves along with the suspension so it's not hard to believe when u put that on ur car it made the noise..

I got a feeling i may have the solution to ur quarrel

Sweet...thanks man.

I'll give it a shot.

I need to install my rear camber kit anyways. :)

i posted a thread about this awhile ago. I did the same thing you did (spray lube in the bushings) but the noise came back a while later. But mine goes away when it gets wet.
When I get time, Im going to take it apart and put actual grease in there.

nf3d0149ab 06-25-2009 01:03 AM

Hmm...something to think about.

I wouldn't know how to do that but it sounds like a good idea.

CL-S progression 01 06-25-2009 08:16 AM

lol looking at the back set up there must be at least 9 different pivot points with burshings... That's a LOT of work for a squeak lol...

We'll see how long my theory works..

I did spray a rust remover/lubricator,, and i bet you it was rusted metal near the pivot points that were causing it. So if anything would stick in there and get rid of the problem... that shit should.

squeaks on both sides are gonzooo..

just don't power wash right under there and I think it should last..

That's how mine started... right after a water blast in the undercarriage on a scorching hot day.

I agree it would have been a bushing, but maybe next time use lithium grease instead of rust stuff. Those bushings are rubber, so they would start to wear out over time.

CL-S progression 01 06-25-2009 12:02 PM

lithium grease eh?? yea that shit i put on is gone i just drove 50 km in the POURING ASS RAIN and it's back to squeaking.... LITHIUM grease you say? spray bottle i assume?

CL-S progression 01 06-25-2009 03:33 PM

ok did it again... with the lithium spray stuff and it worrked..

I'm gonna go get the lithium GREASE thick shit and now toss that arround all my bushings to make sure this isn't a daily fix.. LOL

aznboi2424 06-25-2009 04:46 PM

good stuff, lithium grease will be okay, but if the squeaking comes back and you spray down one bushing at a time, you can find out which one is making the noise and you can just replace it then you wouldnt have to grease it.

CL-S progression 01 06-25-2009 06:33 PM

very good point.. but that's a LOT of trial and error.. i think there are 9 pivot points on each back suspension!!! yikessss.

anyhoo I just lithium greased EVERYTHING thoroughly and then got the thick grease and stuck that all around the main pivot points and then lithium spray greased all that on top..

OVERKILL I KNOW... but i aint looking to do this shit for a while!..

no bushings are falling apart either so it's not like replacing anything is saving anything other than the purpose of the noise

camaroracer016 06-25-2009 11:32 PM

I told ya it would be back.
It will Prolly come back after awhile even with the lithium grease.
Heres a little trick. Have someone joust the suspension while u safely put your finger on each bushing. You will be able to sort of feel it creek. Thats the problem bushing!

aznboi2424 06-26-2009 02:44 AM

Its not a lot of trial and error if you can easily access the bushings. Spray one bushing, drive around for a day and then spray the next one until you find the one that stops squeaking.

CL-S progression 01 06-26-2009 07:08 AM

tru... well i gooped $10 of lithium grease on the back suspension so it better hold out for a while... or else i will b forced to try the spray one then the then next method

gnuts 06-26-2009 07:31 AM

I picked up Energy Bushings when i put my Eibach rear sway bar on like 2 weeks ago. Performance Improvements in Brampton sells them. You can also ask them for greasable ones too. I needed mine asap so i just got the regular ones, which they had in stock.
