Coilover install question

Hey all, been doing some searching and couldn't really find an answer that fit so I thought I'd ask.

1.) I am doing the coilover install this weekend, I am worried that some of my hardware might be rusted and unuseable so I want to know if I need to order new parts and get them overnighted?(nuts and bolts..etc) The car has been in salted winters so that's my concern. This is of the utmost concern to me and I am worried that I will screw something up.

2.) Do the CL's require a special bit to unscrew the calipers to access the pads on the breaks? Doing a pad change over and wondering If I need a special tool? I know when I swapped pads on a friends foxbody we needed a special bit to fit the holes. This is not as important as the coilover concern

Thanks guys for any help, I am still searching right now and trying to find an answer.

Sounds good to me, thanks for the reply! I am also worried about this tophat business, will it be explained in the tein instructions? I have just been reading some mixed threads and now i'm psyching myself out a little. So for the BASIS, I shoudl rent the spring compressor, and then when i get my stock strut assembly out I use the compressor to remove the top hat? What I am not sure of now is What do I do with the tophat? I am having trouble visulizing how the tophat fits on the coilover lol.

Sounds like the Teins reuse the factory top hat.

Basically:

-Compress the stock spring
-Remove top hat and all bushings/collars
-Compress the Tein spring
-Reinstall top hat and all bushings/collars

Id get new bushings while youre in there.

Parts 7(x4) and 11(x2):

When i did my sus. I just got new hats and hardware. Installed them on the new teins and did not need to worry about a compressor. Also, i have a back up, just in case....

I would like new top hats but ran out of time to order them. So I guess I'll have to rent the spring compressor. And mods sorry about te post in general. The the suspension part of the forum doesn't get nearly as many views and the issue was somewhat urgent.

I feel better about the install now but still nervous. Hopefully I get everything done right. This isn't looking good for an install this weekend however I don't think the parts will get here in time if I order the replacements that Morgan suggests.

So if your willing to order the parts I can write you a check tonight if heart decides he wants to go to the meet. Pm me or text me 585-217-6696 and thanks for the help street

Morgan, you have a spot to do it? That's my main problem right now, no spot to really do it. If you are down to do it on Tuesday that would literally be a lifesaver and perfect. you can PM me if you want. And street, i'll be more than willing to take you up on your offer but we would have to wait a few weeks so if Morgan can help me out Tuesday then that's ideal.

New bushings are in! Everything is looking like this is going to be a really good build. A little concerned about the corrosion on my control arms and what not, planning on spraying everything down with PB blaster over the course of this Friday night and then drive around a bit and spray it some more and then I am going to get the tints done Saturday morning and then start the install. I am really hoping this won't be too difficult.
