Buying From HowBarMotorSports...?

hey guys, i just bought some H&R sport springs from www.howbarmotorsports.com and it didn't really say anything about what type of shipping they use or how much it was, which is weird to me...but i was just wondering if anyone has ordered from them before and about how long did it take for your purchase to get to you...thanks

I bought H&R's from them also. It took about 4-5 days to get to me. They have the best price on H&R's anywhere!

Because there are no H&R's specifically made for out CL's. You have to search under the 98-02 Accord V6. I got my springs for $127 shipped!!

Well, after doing muchhhh research about that...i found out that H&R does not make an exact model for the Acura CL. But people have said that the Honda Accord Model fits our cars perfectly. So you would search for a 98+ Honda Accord 6cyl. 2/4d. The model number for the H&R Sport Spring is 51858.

They fit but you must remember that the CL is heavier than the accord.

No, the 51858 sags. You want 50103.

Actually, depending on model, our cars could weigh as much as 450 pounds more completely stock.

hmmm, im not doubting you Pure Adrenaline, but i thought the 50103's fit better on the TL, and the 58's are better for the CL because of the weight?

The TL only weighs approximately 50 pounds more than the CL due to the doors and other miscellaneous things. The 51858 was made for the Accord (about 3100 pounds), and is not up to the task on the TL (3500-3550 pounds) and CL (3500 pounds). From the pictures I've seen, both TL and CL are better off using the 50103, rather than the 51858.

I have a pretty heavy system in the trunk, and I have the 50103 kit. I have a two-finger gap in the front and a one-finger gap in the rear ('03 TL-S). When the system is out, I have a nearly perfectly even drop. And since the CL only weighs about 50 pounds less than the TL, I think the 50103 is better than the 51858.

For comparion, sssick had 51858 on his '02 TL-S with a system in the trunk. His car was noticeably sagging in the rear.

i kinda have to disagree here, here are my thoughts...

model: 51858-55 is actively sold for the CL on C-C-C, i doubt they would sell it if it was "dangerous" and here are the reason that you may see a "sag" with a system...

the 51858-55 Drops F/R: 1"/1.25" and the 50103 Drops F/R: 1.75"/1.5"

that right there is enough info for me to know the 51858s are actually BETTER than the others bc the drop is less, less drop means less abuse on shocks, this being said, it can be seen how the 858s drop it more in the rear and the 103s drop it more in the front, this is probably for people with system

me personally, i would go with 51858 and not think twice, i dont think the CL needs a heavy drop, i dont plan on putting a system in the car, i think it would look perfect and be the most comfortable situation

See, you're basing your opinion on the wrong information, because I know for a fact that the 51858 and 50103 use the SAME front springs. Yet you're saying the 50103 drops it .75" more in the front than the 51858, when they are identical springs.

The 1/1.25 figure is for the Accord, due to the less weight. Those same springs, when put on a TL/CL, it's 1.75/1.5, approximately.

ok, then i have to go bitch at C-C-C for providing wrong information, i figured a place like that would have the correct info, i was not basing it on the accord, i was basing it on the info provided for a CL, but even so, if the difference in the springs is in the back, and the 103s SHOULD therorectically drop it more, how could the 858s sag?? i guess its a longer but weaker spring... doesnt make sense to me. oh well, i dont plan on dropping it anyway. sorry if im giving wrong info, im just relaying what is provided already.

p.s. there are a good couple pictures of guys running the 858s and i dont see a sag and i think it looks like the perfect drop still, thats where i REALLY based my opinion

I think you have it backwards.

50103 uses OE Sport springs for the rear (at least at first, but I think H&R came out with a new kit again, but still with the same model number). And as we all know, the OE Sport springs provide less of a drop than the Sport springs. That's why the 51858 sags more than the 50103. The whole reason H&R came out with 50103 was because of the sagging problem with the 51858.

see for yourself: http://www.c-c-c.net/CustomCarCreati...nsionFrame.htm

here is a thread of people claiming 51858: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=51858

i still completely stand by that the 51858 spring is the better to choose from, please check your info with the corresponding links. i think i finally ended this battle.

The c-c-c link you posted has only the 50103 kit listed on their web site. So what are you trying to prove?

Regardless of what those people say in the second thread, I've also seen other pictures and 51858 sagged. And I've been in direct contact with H&R headquarters before, and they told me 50103 was the right one. However, I do believe they still list 51858 as the appropriate kit for '99-'01 TL; probably because they are so many 51858 kits out there and they can't just take 'em all back.

BUT, according to TireRack (I've talked to Jake and Kirsten there exhaustively), and H&R headquarters, 50103 is the correct kit for our cars. They specifically told me that 51858 had a sagging problem; maybe not right away, maybe not on all cars, but it was a common thing, and that's why came out with 50103.

Here, I copied and pasted your so-called evidence backing up your assertion, from the c-c-c web site.

Applications:

2001-2003 CL (all)
Drops F/R: 1.75"/1.5"
Part #: 50103

You just proved yourself wrong.

Oops, I meant 51858. Not 51858-55. Sorry. 51858-55 are the OE springs.

A miscommunication on both of us, then. You were talking about the OE Sport springs. I was talking about the two Sport springs models (51858 and 50103). You kept saying 51858, so I figured you were talking about the Sport springs. That also explains about the springs on c-c-c.

Is it just me or does the 50103 look noticeably lower than the 51858 to anyone? I want to go with the lowest ones but if they drop the car about the same I will go with the 51858 since they are so much cheaper.

Why does howbarmotorsports.com not have the 50103?
