225/45/18 or 225/40/18 on a CL-S ?
So I'm sure this was talked about a lot here already, but I haven't had much luck with the searching.
So the deal is that I will be putting some 18x8x51 SSR GT3 wheels on my GF's CL-S followed by a full Comptech suspention install. The problem is that I can't decide on a tire size, and I get mixed results with anyone I talk to!
I would like to put on some 19x9 wheels with some huge ass tires, but according to Tirerack and Comptech this is not possible. It seams they do both agree on the width of the tire and the Diameter of the wheel, 225 on a 18", but not the profile. Tirerack says 45, and Comptech says 40. The 51 offset is said to be prefered by both as well.
I've run the numbers and if found that both of these size are not correct, 45 is too large, 40 is too small to match OEM. So Tirerack is going to choose the safer size, and i am willing to agree with this since it will fill up that huge wheel well a little more, but Comptech says there will be rubbing issues if I dont go with a 40 after it has been lowed.
So... Does any one have any experience with this???

I say go with 235/40's, that way it will be closer to oem diameter & protect the wheels more. I have 225's on an 8" wheel, and it DEF needs more width. I doubt you'll have rubbing issues with either 40 or 45 series, especially with CT springs.

Ya, thats what my calculations came up with as well, but no one recomends this size and not sure why. Perhaps it's clearence.
I know what the 225/40/18 looks like on a 8" wheel, but does anyone have photos of a 235?

So this is what I went with after much talk with Comptech and a lot of calculation. The Tires ended up being the perfect dia to match the stock size as well.
- SSR-GT3 18x18x49
- Bridgestone Potenza SO-3 235/40/18 Y
Same diameter as stock, Same side profile as Comptech's demo cars and 1/2 more tread.
Thanks for the help guys.
