im having big time trouble figuring out my max width for my 03 cl.

I have a set of new goodyear eagle gt's, 235/40/18 in the basement waiting for me, i didn't like my old rims.

so i am debating between wheels and setups. i have tein super streets n love being low. but i wanna go fat too. please send me some max width and good offset suggestions.

Look in the pictures section at threads by pdiddy, brianlin, lippstuh (sp?). All those guys have had crazy setups and list the specs.

You can go fatter in the rear. I wouldn't go wider then 8.5 in the front. Those guys have gone even to a 10 wide in the rear i believe. You'll have to at least roll your fenders if you haven't already.

7.5" width is the least you should go, 8.0" is ideal and 8.5" is the widest. After that, you might run into a headache.
A 42-50mm offset for 7.5", 48mm offset for 8.0" width and a 52mm offset for the 8.5"width are all suggested, after that you will have to roll your fenders, play with camber or watch the load in the car to avoid any problems.

We have the Legend wheel and Harrow wheel available for your car in 18" x 8.0" width with a 48mm offset and they are a perfect fit, tried and true.

We also have the Servo wheel and very few Inspyre wheels.

Go here and explore this page with all CL vehicles and a wide variety of wheel styles and finishes. Tire sizes are in the lower left hand corner for reference:
http://ronjonwheels.com/cl-gallery.html

Here is a good shot of the ideal 8.0" width with a 235/40/18 tire:

i hate the idea of staggered for it but then again i want a fat @$$ rim. i had the 18x8.5 a specs and the front rubbed a little bit but the back needed minimal fender roll. i was looking at around 9" rear but the front will rub. the only rubbing i believe was from the plastic wheel well guard... i will post some pics of the a specs.

I just prefer function over looks at the moment, hence my disgust of staggered wheel setups on a FWD car...now if it was a larger wheel up front and smaller in the rear and its for a track setup that's awesome.

I have no problem with the staggered look. I personally wouldnt do it because if you have directional tires you cant rotate them easily.

A wheel setup that decreases performance is where its at son.

Its an easy indicator too see who is performance minded and who is looks/impressing others minded.

Lol if anybody bought a cl to be performance minded just failed at life. At the end if the day it's still a cl. or if modding your car to impress others failed too.

These are 8.5" width front to back, same tire size, same offset, but they look staggered. It was actually done for claiper clearance in the front really, and the rear just ended up with a wider lip since there was no BBk back there, thats how it should really be done, not actually running a wider tire in the rear. Pushing the car to it's limits on purpose or by accident will result in understeer and the car not responding properly.

I have a set of those in 19x8.5 40mm offset. Clears BBK and they look sick on the car. They will be up for sale soon though, I need to make space in the garage.

cool. i like those. but i'm having a hard time just trying to figure out what exactly i want from size to style. i think im gonna buy thes from my friend. they r the 18 x 8.5 inch wide on 245/40 and fit very nicely. when i was slammed all the way more then these pics, it had a nice stance. and he only wants 800$ from me with current tires.

this pics r of my car.

I think 18x8.5 or even 18x9 if you want the same wheels all around.

i was really considering rpm 505's 18x9. with a 38mm offset. they come with the 3 inch lip. or maybe 18x8 with 40 mm offsets in front with i believe 1.75 inch lip and the 18x9 in rear. all on the same tires. 235/40/18.

But if I had the $$$ I'd go with Ron Jon or another manufacturer that has at least a 2-piece wheel construction.

and if you bought a cl(fwd) to put on a staggered rear rim setup that is even more (fail at life) than using cl as performance. Why are you bothering putting a supercharger on if adding performance is failing at life?

See it is easy to turn things around and tell anyone they fail at life. I have a feeling there will be alot of atrocious things done to cl's soon with younger buyers.

btw i didnt buy the Cl to be a track car i bought it as a daily driver that i can use year round. After doing that for 8 years i plan on using it as my track car also. making a car that most ppl dont think and needs custom parts for is alot more challenging and rewarding then modding the same car as everyone else.

But I did say I did it cause I like the staggered look. I'm not trying to gain anything from it. If I thought I was gaining something from it then that would be stupid. I'm not trying to make it an all out performance car. I added the blower cause I just wanted a little more power. If I wanted an all performance car I would just go rwd. I'm good with adding some decent power mods to my cl. What I meant by failing at life to make it performance I'm saying if your trying to get rwd capability from a cl.

. Pdiddy is calling people failures at life when he has invested over $2,000 in performance mods for his motor

Reading is fundamental... And I said it is if your trying to make it into a rwd performance capable type car. And I also said I like the car as is I just would like a little more power. I'm not trying to make a race car out of it. How much money I've put into makes no difference.

lol, you only threw in the rwd part after Brian6speed called you out, so yes, reading is fundamental

It does when it goes toward supercharging your motor (which is performance).

Lol actually no because if you go by what I initially said without me further explaining it what sense would it make for me to put a blower that's why I further explained it to him. And if you've been on this site for a decent amount of time people know I'm not trying to make a race car or a car to all out beat everyone.
