18 x 7.5 Rim lowest profile tire?

Hello all,

I am new here. I was wondering what the lowest profile, widest tire I can put on an MKW-M71 18 x 7.5 rim might be. I do not want to modify the car to avoid rubbing. I was told that I could only go to 235 40r18. I really like the low profile-wide tire look, so I am wondering if this is true. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Forgot to add that it is for a 2003 CL.

225/40, 235/40anything else will throw the speedo off too much and not fit properly

245/35 will fit, but will be much smaller circumference which will mess up the speedo...gl

235/40 is best. Keeps speedo at only 0.3% error

235/40/18, but watch yer offset or you may need to roll fenders to avoid rubbing if lowered.

Thats why I went from 235/40 to 215/45. Only 0.5% error and its a smaller width tread. More sidewall so its more comfortable ride too.

if you lowered your call and you don't want to roll the fenders...you should go no wider than 225x35. my 2 cents

Stay with 225/45/18, less harsh ride, no rubbing issues, I've lowered my CL an inch.

OP is looking specifically for a low profile tire. So the 40 series would be more ideal. Also there is a speedo error with the 225/45/18 size, the speedo would be moving too slow.
