What's it mean when you can'd complete the SRS sequence?
I've been out at the car ('01 CL-S) for the last hour trying to reset the SRS light. I found the instructions easily enough, found the small yellow plug and disconnected it. I made up a jumper with a pair of small paper-clips. Then I tried the sequence.
It was no problem to short the circuit and turn on the ignition, the car beeped three times and the light went out just as it was supposed to. Then I quickly (1 or two seconds, no longer) disconnected the circuit and the light came back on, just like it was supposed to. But then when I shorted it again the light would not go back off again. I was only getting half way through the sequence.
I am not an impatient person, I shit you not, I must have tried it 25 times. Every time the same thing. Has anyone got a clue what it means when you can't even get through the sequence?
On Edit: I'm sorry, I thought I was adding this post as a comment to the existing SRS discussion that is going on in another thread.

It means it can't be reset any longer. It's likely the seat belt buckle. Lifetime warranty on it. In the other thread there should be the info posted on it with a scan of the letter from Acura.
Hmm I can reset mine just fine. My problem is when I turn the ignition back off then on again, the SRS light comes right back on. I also suspect that its the belt buckle (drivers) because thats what started setting it off back when it used to reset.
Make sure you have the process right. Plug should be connected when you turn on the ignition, then disconnect when the light goes off, then connect when the light comes back and finally disconnect when the light goes off again. Turn off the ignition.

Yep, I was lucky enough to get the sequence right; light on, connect, light off, disconnect. The previous owner said that the light was on because of a seatbelt buckle, but the guy was just flaky enough that I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the reasons he was giving me for things being as they were.
That said it was a great relief to learn that this is a lifetime warranty sort of thing. Problem is that its about 140 mile round trip to see the dealer. I wonder, could this warranty work be done by a Honda dealer? We've got one of them about 50 miles closer.

I have the same problem.. Tried the reset sequence last week about 15 times and no dice. I had a seatbelt buckle replaced sometime last year when the light came on and the dealer reset it after they replaced it. I read in another thread that someone had theirs on because of a low battery. I'm wondering if this might be the case since i'm still on my original battery (03 with 135k) on it. I know it's on it's way out soon. Guess i'll go see the dealer anyway. I got a letter about the airbag, so maybe they can look at everything at the same time since they're somewhat related.
Well I've gotten my passenger one replaced not too long ago either cause it was setting off the SRS light. Now I highly suspect that it's the driver's side thats malfunctioning and setting off the SRS light.

Does it throw a code when one of the seat belt buckles fails? It would be nice if it did and somehow pinpointed both the problem and which side its on. If I knew for sure that's what it is and which one I needed I'd just call the Acura dealer and set up an appointment and enjoy the drive up and back. Just so long as they can do it while I wait, and I don't have to wait all day. Otherwise I'd have to get one and install it myself.
Yea, thats what's happened to mine. I reset it a few times and now it won't go away and I'm suspecting the driver's side.
The way I knew it was the passenger side the first time is because after I reset the light, the light would go off again whenever the passenger buckled their seatbelt in. And this time the SRS light would go off when I would take the seatbelt off without turning the car off first. Those are the only ways I can tell.
