A turbo kit on a CL Auto is like making a bridge out of Corn Flakes then trying to drive over it with an Abrams tank.

Youre new, so I wont get on your case too much, but red text indicates sarcasm.

Funniest thing you've said in a while. lolCamjones-Let me give you some real world advice. Do not attempt to put a turbo on your CL, for so many reasons. There is no "bolt-on kit", its not gonna be that easy... Actually it's going to be a frigging nightmare. Currently on this board only 2 or 3 people are running a working turbo kit. There are hundreds of CL members, so do the math. Once a month or so a new member comes on here and says they are going to turbo it, and do a rwd conversion, and do a 3.6 swap. Blah, Blah... they never come back with any results. EVER!
You mention you've never owned or installed a turbo kit, RED FLAG number 1. Is this your first car? If you did manage to get one on there say goodbye to reliability, extra cash, and your glass transmission. My friend is going through the turbo blues with his car right now. Granted it's not a CL but he has not driven his car consistently in a year and a half... the day he started the turbo project.
I commend you on your desire to mod your car, there are lots of options to feed your need for speed. If I where you I'd consider a 6speed swap. Intake headers and a pulley kit gives this car like 30hp, nothing to laugh at... If you really want a turbo pick up an old DSM or a Subie

If you go with a DSM, make sure you get a 6 bolt engine not a 7 bolt. That is unless you want to learn to be a very good mechanic, then get the 7 bolt.Originally Posted by SlickShiftNall6

slick no this isn't my first car my first car was a 99 ford ranger 3.0 loved that truck but it sucked gas so i got my acura and idk for the cost of a 6 speed swap i would just sell the car and get an 03

Its not that hard to do a turbo swap. Just dont get too carried away and pust 30psi boost. I am currently building up a custom kit for a rear mount. Just do alot of research. I plan on runing a gt3076r on 6lbs boost. Very conservative and is able to be daily driven. Good for about 350 the very least.
Bonki' Ehrite!
Hmm, I wouldn't run boost on a stock motor...I'd build it up a little bit and make sure EVERYTHING is boost ready before you just jump in, or bad things can happen...
Boost causes problems and is a huge money pit. But I would def recommend it, as I have personally seen what the J series can do on boost. Just do a lot of research and be ready to spend.

your giving him bad info. its not the motor thats the problem its the tranny. if your so intent on putting a turbo on an automatic at least swtich the tranny to a TL or oddessey tranny. if not i 110% garauntee it will blow.Originally Posted by ANC297

There is so much more you can do before even considering a turbo

But if you are considering a turbo that should be taken into account before doing anything else. No sense in buying a bunch of parts that will need to be replaced if you are going to add boost.Originally Posted by Nersh7

A stock motor can handle around 7psi of boost. ThinJim was running 7psi IIRC on a stock motor. The auto tranny wont hold that power for long. And even the stock clutch wont last that long before it starts slipping. 7psi is over 400whp.Originally Posted by ANC297

The axles wont be able to put up with it for long either.
If you want to run more like 10psi, a mild build should be considered.

this is correct because i am running 6psi right now and the stock clutch went bye bye in no time.Originally Posted by civicdrivr

True but if you still plan on going boosted don't buy parts that your going to have to replace. I kinda meant options like an engine build or 6 speed swap.Originally Posted by black label
