Trunk won't open on my 01' CLS

It started last night. The main switch in the glove compartment has been moved to "ON" and "OFF" with no luck. I've tried it with the remote and the switch on the door panel with no luck. I used the emergency pull handle located through the pass through compartment to open it up finally. Any thoughts on why it would just stop all of a sudden? I just used it 15 minutes earlier??

No it's 38-40 degrees outside this morning so the weather I don't think is the issue. I had just opened last night 20 minutes earleir to put a gym bag inside. The remote won't open it either.

It doesn't look like it's the 20A fuse. That's been replaced. Now what??

is their anything in your trunk, i did this once. When you close your trunk besides the two bars that close the trunk on either side, their is this maybe 1/2 in thick metal bar that connects the two hinges. if you put something in the trunk that blocked the bar, it wont open..

I had the same thing happen to me. It just find today, and then it died the very next day. Nothing. When you hit the switch on the remote or the door panel to pop the trunk, you don't hear a click of any kind. (If it is a jammed torsion bar as described but another reply, you will hear the click.)

Did a bunch of trouble shooting and turns out that the lock assembly was dead. I ordered a new one and replaced it. Took about 1 hour. This may or may not be the same as your problem but just wanted to point out that the lock assemblies do die.

Thanks. When I sit in the car and press the remote trunk realease button I hear clicking in the glove compartment area but nothing in the back. It may be the same thing. Was that part expensive??
