Stock engines with forged internals

Alright so Ive been reading about the forged internals from the 05 rl and honda odyssey cranks and yadda yadda. I see that there is alot of he say she say going on. Ive read through the j32a forum as well and one guy was doing a piston comparison between the cl-s and the 05rl. He posted pics and they both look completely identical. They even weighed the same. Sooooo is this just a myth or does anyone have any true facts about this instead of wikipedia. Also Ive been calling dozens of dealerships to find out more and all of them say the same as well. The only car that they know of that came stock with forged internals was the s2k. Im just curious before I go blowing a grand on some cast parts!

ya i saw that thread on the other site with the comparison. I don't know what to believe now. If you really want forged pistons might have to get some made.

The J series cranks used in all Acura engines are forged. Occasionally you will find a forged crank in a Honda block, but its not the norm, only what the factory had on hand that day.

As far as pistons go, Im just as confused as everyone else at the moment. They clearly have casting marks.

it wasn't too bad. I had the car off the road for the winter so i was able to take my time. You need to be patient.

Back onto the pistons....would it be a bad idea to re-use the CL-S pistons? Just clean them up and put new rings on?

IIRC the main reason for running the RL pistons is to bump compression.

If the pistons dont have any damage then Im sure you could reuse them.

unless there is a no hole in the piston or damage at the ring groves or pin area.
You can just clean them and slap on new rings and run them again.

Does any of the motors come with forged rods or piston though? Any that can be used in the j series anyway.

IIRC the RL rods are forged.

I remember reading somewhere that K series pistons fit, but I think you need to machine a small amount for the wrist pins. For the price of 6 forged K series pistons your better off having custom pistons made.
