passener seat not reclining
hey guys I just bought an 03 cl-s and am having the same problem with the passenger seat not reclining... I took the seat apart to see what was causing the problem and no luck. At first thought it was the motor, however motor is working and cranking...what could the problem be...
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

You might try to jab at the gear ring thru back side of seat. As you move switch
forward and back try to hit big tooth gear that operates recline with a large flat screwdriver. If that works, get some general pupose grease and lube the wheel as much as possible thru back opening. Look for access under back side of seat, just above rear bolt down.

I have the same problem with my passenger seat. I took the whole side apart and the motor works ok. I realized that there is some switch that locks up the seat when the motor is disconnected. I found this out by dis-assemblying the driver's seat also. So far I dont know where to go from here since the motor actually works. Anyone ever solved this problem, or have gone to the dealer and checked what they did?

doesn't work for me either. however it does recline forward when i life the latch for access to the rear seats. once is goes back..the switch doesnt do anything at all.
is there a fuse for this? or is it all in the seat?

TJ,
I was having this problem too, and this fix might be unique to my situation, but after I lifted the handle to access the back seat and then put the driver seat back into normal driving position, the recline suddenly worked.

There was a person on this forum who suggested removing the side panels and using a screwdriver to pry the gears...Wish I could see a photo depiction or even a video how this is done. Wish I could remember who it was! They could help a lot of people who have this problem with thier Acura CLS.
I have a really great dealer here in San Diego but they quoted me around $700-$900.00 to fix this problem.

Yay.....it just worked for me. I took the side panels of my drivers side seat, took the connections jack off and under the cloth is hidden the problem. I use a flathead and have my buddy press the buttons simultaneously and suddenly it starts too work. Sprayed WD40 both sides and Mission Complete.
