Powersteering problems... SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!

About 2 weeks ago my power steering was making that whining sound so i filled it to the max and about a day later its making that whining sound. YES ITS ANNOYING. repeated the same thing above and it all leaked out and then the pump went out i suppose and the steering wheel was hard to turn. So i replaced it with another one my friend had laying around.

Same thing happened AGAIN but this time there was PS fluid all over the side. i didnt know what was going on. So i searched and i changed the hose from the resevior to the pump and changed out the O-ring out. I thought i fixed it from that minute because it worked fine for the rest of the day and night but when i go to drive this morning that damn whining sound came back and the fluid leaked out again so i filled more up to the max.

I then drove to work no problems and at lunch time i go to drive about 5 minutes later smoke is coming from under my hood. FLUID ALL OVER THE SIDE AGAIN!!! The whining sound was still there before i stopped to check . I turned the motor off and cleaned it all off again with engine degreaser and noticed my resevior EMPTY and when i went to go drive back to work there was no whining sound. Again the power steering was completely out like it was hard to turn again. I have no clue whats wrong with this shit.

does anyone have any suggestions? i take it my PS pump is completely burnt out again and there might be something more wrong.

right, you would have to look for the problem further upstream.

maybe steering rack and pinion

The reason it's making that sound is because the pump is running dry, evident by the leaked out PS fluid. Find the leak and you'll find your problem.

Looks like you have faulty o-ring on the suction fitting on the oil pump. $2 fix

Doubt it. Not with that much leakage. Your rack is toast. $750 is what it cost me.

I had similar problem and ended up buying a new rack and pinion but for some reason the new rack started making creaking noises but besides that everything is ok
