I'll move this to the 2nd gen CL Problem and Fix. You'll probably have a better chance there.

You might want to turn your a/c off before you turn off your engine. Could be the a/c running right after u turned your car on. I doubt its the transmission. Could be the timing belt rotating. the cams turning. blah blah. so many things. try the a/c thing.

If you have the stock intake, you might want to make sure the top is secured properly. There are two tabs on the inner side closest to the engine which are easily broken, and the top will make a humming or resonating sound. Both my tabs are broken (because of the dealer), and I have it tied down with zip ties atm until I get an icebox.

Probably, put the mirror switch to either the right or the left and see if you hear the humming noise. The passenger mirror tilts when the switch is in the middle position when the car is put into reverse.

I also have a 2001 CL type-s and the thing hums so loud....i do have an aftermarket intake on it but i had to take it off for a little while and i put the stock box on and it still made an annoyingly loud humming noise...its like a constant hum like a boat or plane.
