HID Light

My driver side HID light went out recently. My high beems and passenger HID lights are still working. I have tried switching my driver side HID bulbs, fuses, and relays to the working passenger side and they all function correctly. The only thing I was unable to swith is the wires and cap that run from the inverter to the HID bulb. After pulling both caps I noticed that the passenger side had a row of metal teeth inside the cap which probably conducts power to the bulb. The non-working driver side is lacking those teeth. I am not sure if this is standard or if I need to replace the cap. Does anyone know if this could potentially be the problem or is it most likely the inverter?

Im pretty sure it is either the igniter or the inverter. JUdging by all of the threads on this website, the inverters have a strong tendency to go out. I just want to be sure before I spend $300 on one. I appreciate the help.
