Do I need to replace the the ATF temp sensor?
Got the old flashing D5 light and took it in for a code check. Turned out to be a faulty ATF temp sensor. Tech said it was still OK to drive.
My questions is this: if it is OK to drive with a bad ATF temperature sensor, then why bother fixing it? In fact, why even have a temp sensor at all if it doesn't matter whether it works or not? I'm not trying to be facetious here.
Oh yeah, $75 for a 5 min code check.... sh1t like that makes me not want to buy another acura.

Update... Got quoted $400 to replace this sensor. I asked the tech what are the implications of driving with a broken sensor, and I was told "The D5 light will keep flashing"
Surely there is more to this problem than that? I'm not paying $400 to stop a light from flashing.
