cls pedal feel after new pads&rotors

A few weeks ago I replaced my front rotors with blanks along with ceramic pads. They were warped to shit and needed replacement. However, now the pedal feels like it has more travel before the pads start to bite. I never opened the system, although I did get some fluid running out of the res after compressing the pistons. Is this a common problem, suggestions?

May need to top off the brake fluid if some was lost during the installation. There may not be enough fluid for the pistons to push the pads in all the way. May be a good time to think about completely replacing the brake fluid too if it's dark in color.
