2002 CL Type-S VSA Light

My ABS/VSA//!\ lights have been coming on and off for the past few months up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago when they were ON all the time from start up. I had the car inspected by Courtesy Goodyear and they said the ABS modulator needed to be replaced which the part cost $1650 from the dealer (plus labor). I found a used modulator from a junk yard for $200 and had them replace it. My ABS light is now off, however, my VSA light is still on. At start up the /!\ (triangle) is on and after driving approximately 1/2 mile I hear a little click from the passenger side and the ABS light will come one. It has been this way for a week now. I took my car back to Goodyear and they suggest replacing the lateral acceleration sensor ($282 from dealer) and if this doesn't solve the problem, replacing the yaw rate sensor ($699 from dealer) if this doesn't resolve the issue, replacing the steering angle sensor (cost unknown). Is there something that they are missing? I am trying to avoid having to go to the dealer.

Please help, I am slowly going insane here. This light has taken over my life for the past week! I LOVE this car! I purchased this car brand new in October 2001. I had the transmission inspected in Sept. 2004 due to the recall, at that time they didn't find anything wrong and installed the oil jet kit. I started to notice problems in 2007 and my transmission was replaced under warrenty in November 2007. I have also had the timing belt, water pump, pulley's and tensioners replace in November 2009.

You need to scan your car with for ABS trouble codes first. Generic scanners wont do it you need to go to dealership or look for someone that has Honda HDS unit. Pump/modulator rarely gets boroken and usually will pop 30A fuse so I would not touch modulator from the start. For sure I can tell you that this is NOT fault of : lateral acc, or yaw sensor, or angle sensor - thats located inside clock spring about $130 - These sensors are used strictly for VSA and wont trigger ABS to malfunction , but faulty ABS component will shut off VSA as it uses wheel speed sensors .I would start looking for a fault @ wheel speed sensors - these thing go bad pretty often . Just have your system scanned and we will go from there... your Goodyear guys seem to be doing guess work

My car just started recently with both indicator light and a check engine that sometimes shuts itself off. Im just going to pay the dealer to look at it. I also noticed my steering wheel controls started to malfunction like crazy...you did mention the clock spring for the vehicle being an issue. Its always had problems. Now it just works when it wants to.
Maybe Ill start with the clock spring which i already know i need and go from there. Ill let you know what I find.
