2001 Acura 3.2 CL

My acura has just over 183k miles.

My transmission slips at times when I slow down as if I'm coming to stop at a red light, but accelerate as if it turned green (roll & go?) And sometimes when shifting into second
It has also shut off completely when coming to a complete stop. This has happened only a few times
The D5 light has flashed twice within the past few months putting my car in limp mode.. but stopped after shutting off the car for a while

I got a diagnostic done and three codes came up.
P1740 - 4th clutch pressure switch circuit
P0780 - Shift control system fault
P0700 - Automatic transmission fault

Also, my engine misfires in all cylinders. I think this is linked to why my car didn't want to start today.. it just turned over continuously. I finally got it to start, but it idled REALLY hard and sounded as if it were trying to die. The RPM was really low. I'd Rev the engine a bit, and it would putter and then Rev up, just to sound as if it would die again... later throughout the day it didn't do this AT ALL. And ran perfectly

With all this madness aside, the car has been great, and drives great! I've had it for 3 years and it's been amazing...
I read in some other posts that I could try replacing the 3rd and 4th pressure switches, and replacing the coils.. but I'm not sure. I'm not too mechanical. I can fix the problems after I've seen what to do, like in YouTube.
But is this fixable? Or is this car condemned? I don't make much money, so replacing the tranny is out...

Could I get some advice?

it was a good run with 187K, I'd look for a new car or get an 07 accord V6 trans and stuff it in there.

Your cl sounds like it's been neglected for a while. You need to do some basic tuneup and maintenance.

I would start by checking all the spark plugs to see if any are fouled. If they're old or not ngks replace them with ngks only as recommended in the owners manual.

Replace air filter.

Clean the intake: throttle body, egr system, and plentium of all cake on gunk.

Transmission

If atf fluild is more than 35k? Do a 3x3 atf dump n fill and trans filter change. Use oem atf only... dw1.

Replace the following solenoids...

Shift Valve C.

3rd & 4th gear pressure switches.

Pressure Control Valve A/B. Check the 3 screens at the bottom of the 3 small pipes. Replace the 3 O-rings and gasket.

Check the screen/gasket on Pressure Valve C.

There are videos or DIY on most if not all of these services. YouTube videos and a lots of info here in the 2g cl section and also in the 2g tl side.

All you need to do is educate yourself and maybe buy some basic tools.

Good luck.

do the switches... they aren't hard with basic hand tools and extensions... if that doesn't help, consider 6MT SWAP!!!

Thank you for the info! I'll start looking into getting parts right away.
I gave it a tune up a few months ago, I'm not sure exactly what spark plugs I used, but I'll check still to make sure.

Next time you have a hard start, try tapping on the 'main relay.'
