14 mpg around town ?
Finally tested my gas mileage last week. Took it from Fort Lauderde to Jville and got 27MPG at 75 MPH. Drove around town here in Ft. Lauderdale with lots of stop & go traffic and averaged 14 MPG.
This was achieved with a light foot. I expect the numbers would have been lower if I had gotten into the Vtech at all.
Mods are an UL crank pulley, K&N air filter and gutted intake resonator. I would think these mods would help and not hurt my mileage.
I believe a trip to the local stealership would be fruitless. My cls auto runs strong (6.2 to 60, 14.6 Qtr)) so I do not believe it to be out of tune.
Help!!

Premium Gas 3.12
Well..... Don't feel bad. I get around 16 mpg in the city during the summer with the A/C on blast. That may be why your getting such low miles. Do you put 93 grade in it or 89?

I had some gas milage problems earlier this summer. I got 15mpg in the city one time. Seems as though when I filled up, the gas station somehow mixed up the octanes and I filled up with a lower octane rather than 93. I ran the tank empty, filled up with 93 at a different station, and poured a whole can of Seafoam in the tank. Ran it down again, and filled up at the same station. From then on I've been getting ~19 in the city and ~26 highway.

Excellent question I did not think the high test would make that dramatic a difference in gas mileage.
I just cleaned and reoiled the K&N filter. After checking that my next test will be on high test.

For the SLFA area that's good. My car is the same way.(all 3 cl's I had) Once I get on a HW trip like to Olando I get over 25mpg. The heat & AC demands kills milage. You should also put in 93 all the time. It's been proven the savings between 89 & 93 doesn't = out since you get worse milage then with 93.

Let's Compare
I just filled up a full tank with Premium 93 for $3.12 a gallon here in Pittsburgh. My A/C is on all the time. I will post back in a week to tell you how many miles I get.
Hopefully it's around 280 but I am guessing 245. Majority of my driving is in the city, lots of stop and go.

That's normal for city. Don't worry about it. I get 15 mpg here in Hawaii. Temps are about 85 deg. and humidity is about 50%. And my new engine has less than 5000 miles on it.

What do you call it then when the cam profile changes and you can hear and feel the increase in acceleration?
