03 Clutch replacement?

Hey guys, my clutch is showing major signs that it needs replaced, I have 109k on the odometer

Does anyone have any guesses as to how much the replacement cost may be? I found a clutch kit on eBay, item 280288757833... does anybody foresee any issues with using this product? I'm guessing labor cost would be around $300?

stock clutch kit from acura is 954. If you are looking an aftermarket kit you can check optionauto.com they sell spec kits starting from 600 up depending on what stage you want.

Correction: the name of the website is "optionsauto.com" not optionauto.com. That was really confusing

Order a stock clutch from the online parts places, & a new flywheel.
Then whatever $ a shop charges per hour labor.

Has anyone had any experience with the Clutch Masters clutches?

I can get the OEM clutch for $710 (disc, pressure plate, flywheel, throw out bearing). The Clutch Masters Stage 1 retails for $1375.

Is it worth the extra dough?

Not really. Unless your boosted & need it it's a waste. Just think how long your stock one lasted.

We need to change the flywheel when we change the clutch/pressure plate??

My mechanic want the flywheel to be re-surfaced... is that ok?

Depends on how bad the flywheel is, if there are heat stress marks on the flywheel that are deep then you might have to get it replaced, other wise resurfacing will good enough, just check to see if its above min. thick.

I'd say the clutchmasters kit is worth it, im definitly considering it, it will grab much better even if your only NA. Plus, the flywheel is so much lighter ~20lbs that your midrange is going to feel SICK!

Our flywheel is Dual Mass, It's can't be re-surfaced.
Well, it could but you better have a shop that knows how to do it right. It's not easy.

It's not a proven kit however for our application. There's questions regarding longevity, quality, & problems it may cause for modded cars down the road. Just like CT's flywheel.

You keep thinking that way while Sean Siggy and I have fun actually putting power to the ground while you contemplate how your increasing tire life by having your clutch slip first

I'll admit it can be hit/miss sometimes, Sean had a ring gear problem with his flywheel that caused grinding starts, wasn't that bad, and eventually they got that problem fixed, but overall im pretty happy with their kits, flywheel doesn't pose a problem if you have a decent clutch kit with a strong pressure plate which they do have. Its really the only viable option right now, perhaps Mr.Heel Toe will get his clucth kits/flywheels back on the market but he told me his guy was ailing from the bad economy so who knows.

Comptech set themselves up for failure by having people use stock clutch kits and pressure plates with their setup, thus it is inherintly risky. Heck with that much weight reduction the syncros will have much less load on them increasing longevity more so then you would lose from a dual mass feature.

Those are mu thoughts on it, anyway some guy on the east coast sells the kit for $1250, im contemplating it enough to the point that I will actually sell the SC and go NA if I could have the whole kit, but perhaps i'll just get the clutch kit only and mod my stock flywheel for it to fit.

And yes you can resurface a dual mass flywheel, justmake sure the place you take it to does it, obviously otherwise they won't do it, as redundant as that sounds.
