Question Question about these fogs. Post yo foglight pics

I am thinking about installing this on my 03 cls. these fits the fake air vents. here is the link for this light http://www.autobarn.net/pilmilserdri1.html
I am wondering if the 55W bulb in there will get too hot and damage the vent housing or anything. any advise or or anyone have similar lights on thieir car. I am trying to get better light while driving at night, i just have stock HID's

Im not sure those will look good on the CL. But as long as they aren't shining directly on the plastic they shouldnt cause any damage.

Obviously these would melt the road lamps but since you are installing them open like that.

Should be fine.

I think Fuzzy02Cls has something similar to that on his 03 CL.

yo thanks ppl. i know they look only ok, well i cant find anything that will fit the vents and throw more light like these as these have 55W bulbs.
oh yeah i am definately not going to get 01 road lamps as i have read many posts about how they only take upto 18W bulbs, i just wish the headlights were brighter.
I actually use to have these on my camaro and they worked great with the headlights you can see so much better @ nite.

victypes, if you like those lights, you should install them. I, along with the other guys, don't think they look good, but that doesn't matter. Don't let our opinions be the reason you change your mind. Other than that, I'm trying to figure out what type of fogs I want in my 03cls.

Silverstar had better light output, but the ebay 6000K bulbs were brighter white which is what I was going for (trying to match 6000K) HID's up top. But the projectors are def aimed differently

Exclamation

yo i have a 03 cl-s also, they never made factory fog lights as an option. however, the factory lights from the 02 will fit, but they only sell the lamps, it has to be wired to the headlight or parkin light, i just placed the order, a pair roughly $100 oem from acura -- and the labor to instal is also cheap.

Welcome to the site...

I hope you didn't waste your money getting the wrong impression.

Those "lamps" you purchased...sad to say are NOT fog lights.

They are 5 watt worthless pieces of plastic wannabes.

I like the factory driving lights but i would like them brighter. I have put in larger 198's and looks yellow, than i tried Piaa 198 bulbs and still not bright enough and the blue started to flake off in the lens. Now I'm taking it to the next level and using DR2's.

I don't know if anyone has tried this or not but I'm going for it. I'll post Pict's along the way. I think the hard par is going to find a place for the ballast boxes.

^ Good luck with that too...

A couple of Azine members have done it already.

It blurred their roadlamp housings...but they didn't completely melt.

I believe there is a hole through the firewall on the driver's side.

use the rubber grommet that the wires run into your cabin through, you should be able to poke a hole in it and run the wires through

alright i know the wires are through driver side and they come out right behind the left front wheel but i cant see it as there is not enought space, neither can i put my had after opening the hood and dont know what other spot i can go through, i just dont want to make any holes in there.

Custom Fog lights for under $12 finally done

Ok so i got these lights out of a 01 mercury cougar at a junk yard for $1.

Ok i finally installed the lights and here is the DIY. I know some may think i am cheap as, but currently i am unemployed and a student so dont me. oh and my roommate helped me out and spend most money he's cool

side view only thing the space between bulb and lens was open

i coverd that with piece of bakeing foil, it wasnt pretty but that wont be visible, sorry forgot the pic.
back of lights.

Now gota figure out mounting and so got this metal form HD for like 5 bucks marked by takeing measuremtns and then cut with metal cutter

Then made a hole and surrounded by car door guard rubber to hold the light in place and the tail is to mount it to the frame, if you notice on the car there is a hole in frame right behind the opening.

top view

and here's the front view

what a mess

so here both sides but this is not how they go in, the light goes from inside and the cover from front and is a real struggle to get both in place

well i decided to paint em to match better

i think they look better too.
oh this is the baking foil i was talking about earlier and some mounting tape because lights did not have any brackets. In the close up you can see some edge missing which hapeend at the junk yard.

view behind the bumper looking from left to right at the light

here's after install

and some night shots
left is regular bulb came with the light and i had a silverstar in right, its a big difference in person. oh and the red light in the bumper is my switch lying around i havent wired that up yet as no one helped me how and where to go through the firewall, i will figure that out tomorrow

camera set at night shot for this one

And this is 03CLs and i am still trying to figure out where exactly i go through the firewall and may be then get an acura or honda fog switch. Also right now its connected straight to switch that means lights are independent from low beams or parking(thats what i wanted) only problem is i would have to manually turn them off when i turn off the car
daym this write up took me more than an hour, its my first DIY so forgive the mistakes.

Ha ha...what a mess on the floor picture but for $12....!

Seriously...that's some creative stuff you got there man!

Props for that...and for getting your buddy to buy most of the materials!

Looks good too...I would have never thought to do what you did there.

From what I know...

There should be a plug (You can pop out) through the drivers side in the footwell where you can run wires through the firewall.

for light are a must for the cl-s, if you have an 03 acura wont offer them as an option, but you can takethe ones for an 02, its likt $100 from the dealer, all you have to do is hard wire them to the parking lights

The "fogs" you mention from the 01-02...are not fog lights but just 5 watt POS ambient hunkers.

Don't waste your money.

wow victypes I love the way those came out! I'm on a low budget right now too so if I can't find someone to trade inserts for my roadlamps I might copy that mounting idea!

Ok i am almost done with the install, here are some more pics of wireing and stuff, i hope i can save enough to get the TL fog switch well i was actually not happy with how much light they throw on the road, even with silverstars in, so i might look in to some better bulbs, but for now these gona have to stay.
Ok so heres how i went throught the fire wall, removin the fuse box circled and view the hole behind it. and taped the wires to that metal stick and push through

and this is how i ran the wire i coloured it blue
earthing for lights right and left is on same spot

my wire barely made it between the lights i should have kept it a little longer

and wallah we have lights

oh check out my switch its her place for now

some night shots

I tested them today by haveing them on for almost 2 hours while i drove and nothing so i guess i am fine they just need to be focused in right angle
i also took some pics of some videos while drivng i got eclipse dvd

l:

oh and my budget just went up like $4 because i bought that wire guard from walmart.
anyway here's budget details-
Fog's $1(junk yard)
Metal sheet almost $5 (HD)
Door guard black (Free)
Spray paint $3
baking foil $1
Metal mouning tape $2.50 (Roll HD)
Bulbs $0 (used silverstar)
Wires (Free old fog light wires)
wire guard $4 (walmart)

Hours may be 10, lot of adjusting + no expreirence
it would have been more but thanks to my roommate's helproomie

Quick Reply: Question about these fogs. Post yo foglight pics
