The rear rotors look small inside the 18" wheels

The combination of the wheels, brakes and antracite looks awesome

I thought the same thing. Too bad Brembo didn't make a BBK upgrade for the rear. Would cost another $1000 or more and wouldn't really be necessary. But it would look really nice.

Looks Great! Same car that I have. CLS 6Speed I/H/E AEM pullys, Hurricane chip, AemCAI w/spirals inserted Comptech sways, urathabe bushings all around w/Comptech springs and Tokico 5ways. Get over 25mi/per gal in city, over thirty highway with normal driving. I'll have to go to the track to get real 0-60 numbers. I know it is way faster than stock.

Looks sweet man! Great minds think alike, I have an 6MT same color, non navi though. Question if you don't mind. I looked for a list of mods in your profile but didn't see any, thought they used to have that option?? I am going to get a drop in a few months, and I see a lot of info on the forums here but mostly from the slush box guys, and I am under the impression that the specs and characteristics for the MT are a little different. I see what looks like yellow koni's, drop seems pretty level, not Comptech?? How do you like it, any rubbing at all, because I would never sacrifice performance for looks. Will it rub at all with 4 people in the car?? + 48 is the offset of the stock rims too, right? How about those tires, you like them?? I am still running on stockers. I'd appreciate the help when you get a chance.

Complete List of Mods
Engine: CompTech intake and S/C
Exhaust: CompTech headers, b-pipe and axle-back exhaust
Suspension: CompTech springs, sways, strutbar and koni yellows. Drop is standard CompTech 1 1/2" front and 1" rear.
Wheels: Volk Racing LE37T, 18x7.5 +48 offset
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, 235/40ZR18/RF
Brakes: Brembo Evolution Front Brake Kit, 13"; Rear Cross-drilled Rotors; Rear Stainless Steel Brake Lines; Rear Brake Pads, Metal Master; Motul 600 Brake Fluid
Misc: 2002 roadlamps with PIAA 19224 bulbs

With the CT drop, new wheels and tires, I haven't had any rubbing issue yet. However, I've only had one passenger in the car so far. I have to try it with 3 passengers some time. BTW, the stock wheels have an offset of +55mm, not +48.

As far as handling, I can't fully say yet because I've been taking it easy until I replace the temporary spacers on the front wheels. In addition to getting some custom 5mm hub-centric wheel spacers made, I'm getting some longer high strength wheel studs. After new spacers and studs are in, I'll be able to really see how well car handles. But so far, it feels very sure-footed with no body roll and very sticky around corners.

The new tires definitely are much stickier and have helped reduce the feeling of torque-steer and wheel spin. Now I have to provoke wheel spin in first gear where as before it was almost impossible to launch hard without spinning up the wheels. Now I can really feel the pull from S/C in first gear. In addition, with the lighter wheels, steering seem more precise and acceleration slightly quicker.

I saved approx. 9 lbs with the new wheels and tires per wheel. And based on someone else's numbers on the stock brakes vs Brembos, I've saved another 12 lbs. per wheel.

Stock rotor is 11.8" = 17.5 lbs and Brembo new 12.4" = 12 lbs.
Stock caliper = 16 lbs and Brembo caliper = 7 lbs.

Since I have the Brembo 13" kit (actually 12.9") , I'm guessing the 12.9" rotor weighs another 2 1/2 lbs more than the 12.4" rotors.

Sweet fucking ride!

And I'm not even a big fan of tuner/race wheels, or whatever you want to call them, on the CL, but your car looks amazing. Love the color combo.

305 WHP, 262 FT-LBS TQ with the OEM wheels and PS A/S 225/50ZR17s. Don't know if I would see more power from the lighter wheels and brakes.

Hey man, thanks a bunch for the info. One more thing, did you need a camber kit w/ the springs?? +55 is the stock offset, what are the safe offsets for us?? Stronger wheelstuds, huh?? where do you get those from?? The CCC link on the forum has most of what we can put on the CL, did you find them there?? Anyway, thanks. Later.

No problem, glad to help others with their mods and spend money.

I didn't need a camber kit w/ the CT springs and konis using the stock purch. As far as offsets, I've seen people list everything from +42 to +50. But since +55 is stock, I used that as a basis to figure out what the best offset would be for a 18x7.5 rims; +48 seemed to be the best compromise for my application. An since I had to go with 5mm spacers, anything less would have been pushing it.

On the studs, I've ordered some (59mm total length) from CompTech that are out of a 12.4" BBK for an NSX. They are stronger and about 11mm longer than the OEM studs (48mm total length). CompTech had some longer studs listed for the CL but they were way too long for my need at 68mm total length.

BTW - I never went to the CCC link. I guess I should check it out.

Now you won't be able to use the caption "Hey camera car, where's the Brembos?" any longer. And there won't be anymore of that wild under-steer in the twisties.

Thanks...

Which meet will you be at next? Next weekend near S.J. (if there is going to be one), the WCM or the next SacTown. In any case, hope to see you at which ever one you make it to.
