Talking Finished Kenwood HU Install!

Sorry mods for the cross-post.

Thanks again to Ron (Streeteffectz) who went above and beyond what I expected for customer service. This is using the Double Din custom Metra kit.

I did have to trim the Metra kit slightly with my Dremel to make things fit. But in the end, it looks totally stock looking!

Here are pics:

The flash saturates the pics BUT I can assure you that the color matches very very closely to stock.

Yes, all you have to do is buy the navi box. It connects directly to the back of the HU.

Ron is selling this at a groupbuy price of $1090 with trim included.

Nice... Did you install it yourself? How hard was the wiring? Is it hooked up to the stock speakers?

Yes, I installed it myself along with a friend. I used a wiring kit to hook up to the stock wiring. I soldered all connections (really, that was the most time consuming part). Yes, they are hooked up to the stock speakers and stock amp. Made the sound 100 times better.

Isn't the stock amp part o the stock head unit? If not, why did you use the stock amp?

The stock amp is located in the rear of the car. Why wouldn't I use it? I would have nothing to power the speakers if I did not.

sorry, i thought that kenwood unit you installed was powered. i obviously don't know much about stereos, but i really like what you've done and am thinking of getting one installed myself. i live in canada, so i'll have to find someone up here to install it. i saw the HU for $395 on Ebay. is that a decent price?
