there is no "scoop", but I guess its functional for solving the space issue.

Sorry to bomb you with questions but ...
Is that pearl white instead of taffeta ?
Can we have a pic of the hood from the bottom ?
What spacer are you running, and where'd you get it ?

I think it looks fresh btw .

Its definitely Taffeta white, its just highly polished and the rest of the car isnt...so i'll post more pics once I wet sand and buff the rest of my car. The spacer is off of a Ridgeline, and I got it from a Honda dealer online for about $50 with the longer bolts. Its 1.8" tall. I'll take a pic of the hood from the bottom and post it.

I wouldve kept it raised towards the rear of the hood, a la M3. But its not bad as is.

Ehh just tighten them a little more than snug....so, your gonna have to bump your hood after the install. Are you planning on keeping it like that?

I'm gonna use skateboard bearings to bump it , I read that somewhere . Or washers ? recomend anything ?

No , I wanna make a hood modification just don't know exactly how yet . I like yours I don't wanna copy it though . I have to fab up a lip kit and trunk lip too still, so my whole car is gonna get painted probably sometime this summer when I'm done . I want my car to be showcar material .

(So the spacer is 2" tall?) Its actually 1.8"...ok, honestly i dont care if people copy this hood at all, but the only place you will get it is from my friend. The hood bump is not bought anywhere. My fiberglass guy (Rick) literally had to cut the hole in the hood perfectly around the Intake Manifold. Then he got a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 ft styrofoam piece that was 3" thick and plastered it over the hole. Then for HOURS he was hand sanding it to form the "bump" shape. Then he applied bondo over the styrofoam bump and smoothed it all out. Then he sanded the bondo to a smooth finish after he had finished the shape. He then shot gelcoat over it and wet sanded it to a glass smooth finish. THEN he fiberglassed over the bump and when it dried he then separated the fiberglass mold from the styrofoam bump. He did all that to make the mold. Then obviously he destroyed the styrofoam bump to remove it and get the hood ready for the bump. With that mold he can make a fiberglass bump or a Carbon Fiber bump...whatever you want. He made a CF bump for me. Once you make the bump you then have to fare it into the hood to make it look flush. Then obviously paint the whole thing one color like I did or keep the CF look on the bump or whatever....he has the mold in case anyone wants a bump made.

I'm looking into the hood scoops on ebay and just going to rivet mine on. Cross my fingers I can find an enclosed one similar to yours. So far no cigar.

But amazing work your friend did there. I absolutely love it, function > fashion. I'm in need of one because this engine hits my hood, and even though I shelled the hood already from the inside, it still slightly hits it. Thank you for the response!

Pretty nice hood IMO. You should take orders and have hoods made.. I'm sure there are some people that would buy it.

So what did the spacer do to your powerband after it was installed? I'm curious.. Was it really worth it lol?

I would of never made the decision to spend hundreds of $$$ to make a custom hood if the spacer didnt make a difference....it made a big difference. I want to hear the results from other people after they do the same mod because it seems kind of unbelievable coming from one person...

I'll have mine installed as soon as friday . So I'll let you know . If I don't feel a difference it'll come off . If I see a difference I will be running the hood prop until further noted .

Here's my idea . Add to the fenders to make it line up with the proped hood , or . idk .

I don't think it is really worth it. I remember reading on certain setups it lost power.

The hoods camel hump looks pretty good. I would have smoothed out the sides more so it flows better and left an opening at the back to vent all the heat from engine bay. Those are just minor complaints/suggestions tho.

I read the same thing that's why I was curious since that's a lot of work for a intake manifold spacer lol. He's saying he feels a noticeable difference but I'm assuming that's on the butt dyno haha. Any actual numbers from before and after to see what it did to the powerband?

Uggh..for some reason it wont let me copy/paste the link, but go to google and type "V6 performance spacer dyno" and click on the 1st link that says "My intake spacer dyno...GREAT RESULTS!" and you will see the page of the dyno results. Now remember, this was on a j30 with little mods, on a j32 it should be better especially with more mods.

So it looks like on a basically stock engine you will gain a little tq in midrange but lose your top end. Ok I guess if you never go over 6200 rpm's.

I also remember p2r telling me not to do it on my setup which is bored/ported. Top end is important to me tho. I am at redline a lot.

Also on my car I have the bigger plenums with the longer mdx air horns which extends the runner length. That is another variable to take into account.

Another question would be why not just mill down and smooth the spacer enough so it clears the hood?

Please don't take this as a personal attack. I still like and appreciate what you did.

Well the truth is that we will never know unless we see true dyno results from a j32 engine. I have been into the racing scene all my life and know when something has made a difference or not. I can tell you FOR SURE I feel a BIG torque difference. That explains why I have less traction in 1st and 2nd, but I too am a person who takes it up to redline more than often and I definitely feel no HP drop. As a matter of fact, I never remember 3rd gear pulling this hard all the way up to redline. Im just curious what MikeBikeLife has to say after he installs the spacer...lets wait and find out. Also, it doesnt make your car any louder in case you think it feels faster because it sounds faster. lol

Well my spacer is currently chillen at the post office . Hopefully I'll get it installed tomorrow . I'm currently on my stock wheels and tires . First gear on good road it fights traction . First gear on ok road it pretty much lights the tires up . So we will see how it does . Btw I have cai,dc headers, and coolant to the throttle body bypass as far as engine mods go . I'm also only running one muffler, Don't judge me I'm trying to make my mind up on catback .

What do you mean your only running on 1 muffler? Im assuming you unbolted the other muffler and have it open on that side? Thats going to make it a lot louder than to have a catback and both mufflers on. My friend has a single 3" exhaust to a canister in the back and its loud. I have Comptech headers/downpipe/ cat delete and comptech mufflers. From my cat to my mufflers its stock with the resonator still there and it sounds amazing when you floor it. I wouldnt want to change the way it sounds but eventually I should go with 2 1/2" exhaust from my cat to my mufflers deleting my resonator as well to create more HP...

Also, I dont feel like starting another thread so I need your guy's opinion on this....I need better stickier tires, should I buy the tires or go all out and buy new wheels and tires. I always wanted the silver Enkei RPF1's 18x9+35...the only reason I want that size is because the split six-star is more flat making it deeper dish on those rims only from 9" wide and wider...anything less wide the split six star curve out then in again not looking as good or deep dish. Also they are only 17.3 lbs and they look great! I remember weighing these rims with the tires on and they were 48.5 lbs

My 225/40/18 Dunlop Direzza 101's were amazing tires imo. MY buddy has the star spec direzzas and likes them too in the summer . Maybe you could run a ???/45/17 on your honeycombs ? MY nittos are excelent tires too I just stretched them too much . a 205/40/18 doesnt get along well with a 3600 pound car .

edit: Yes I'm just not running the left muffler .

How low are you gonna drop it? What camber specs are you gonna run? What size tires are you planning on using? How much are you willing to spend? Are you gonna roll rear fenders or mod them in anyway?

I like the wheel choice. I would go for a higher offset myself. +40-45. Then I would go with 245 tires. With that width and offset you are limiting the tire size for fitment and will probably have to stretch tires and run a lot of negative camber or have the wheels sticking out rice style.

Are you going for performance or giving up performance for VIP look like most cl owners do? Are you getting staggered setup?

I already have my fenders cut so I can have more clearance. Im on Meagan coilovers/adj struts but I dont think i can go any lower without having issues. The only RPF1's that I like are the FLAT split six star which start at a 9" wide rim and up...so I figure go with the 18's to make it look better and perform well too. The only offset they offer in the 5x114.3 18x9 is +35. I dont think I can go bigger than that without having issues...unless I jack the car up. But I would stick with 235/45/18 tires...or I just buy good sticky tires for the rims I have and just save my money for something else. The NITTO NT555 are only $122 each. Arent they a great tire?
